There's today's
" that's progress for you" says Mark Robins.
Because we've secured championship football for another season
But yet we'll finish on less points than last season. Goal difference is better, but where would we have been without Nahki?
Sorry, with two games to spare he said.
Hydy,
Lets be fair to Robins, who is having to work within the financial constraints set by Deano and unlike QPR, Forest and all the other front runners, he just can't go out and spend Millions like them, and don't forget some also have the benefit of parachute payments worth around £20 million/season, for the first three years after dropping out of the premiership.
Also ask yourself where we would have finished up had we not sold Rhodes, or had Vaughan been available for the majority of our games, or if we had had strength in depth like most of the top sides, who are also prepared to go into debt and put their future existence at stake, in a desperate gamble to win promotion.
So, I'm well happy we've managed to secure our Championship status for a second season, plus Robins will also be better for the experience and no doubt Deano will be as well.
So now the pressures off, we can go out and attack Champions Leicester in our final games of the season and get this "one man up front " nonsense out of our systems and produce some decent entertainment for a change.
Well put Mirf, I agree! 👍
Mr Hoyle will be splashing the cash now, as next season is a promotion push, that's what he said. Robins just needs to get the right mix of players though. I expect about four or five players to go.

Relegation wasn't in the equation, in Albert Einstein I trust!
I think the writer of the BBC article for the match was having a laugh, he referred to Smithies as being a giant! 😂
'Moments later the 20-year-old spurned a glorious opportunity as he galloped through on goal following a defensive mix-up between Anthony Gerrard and Murray Wallace. However, his decision to try to take the ball around Smithies backfired as the giant keeper got down quickly and plucked the ball from the youngster's feet.'
How tall is Smithies 5'9"?
he could get a part int hobbit
Oh you've decided to wak'en up sleepy head.

I'll be back in 10 weeks anyway

But look @ Burnley for progress, fourth favourites for relegation, they got Arfield from us, then two more signings in January and March this year.
That's progress.
Arfield was another of those Town players that were played out of their best position by Town. He does what Hogg does , an up and down worker but we stuck him wide midfield. Anyway, good teams are all about the right 'mix' and often that is just luck when everything clicks.
Robin's challenge for next season it to get a squad of players that gells together, get players to play in their strongest positions and to try and keep them fit most of the season. They don't necessarily have to be big names even, just the right pieces to complement what we have.
Anyway, Leicester at Bolton tonight, still needing a win to secure 1st place over Burnley. Bolton are one of the top form teams at the moment so it could be tricky for the Foxes. Would spice up our game with them on Saturday if they still need points..
Burnley got lucky just like Blackpool did 3 years back, because success for modern day football managers is all about how much money you have to spend, or dropping lucky with your signings and hoping they will gell into a competitive unit.
This is what also previously happened at Blackpool under Ian Holloway, although it didn't stop him being shown the door at previous clubs QPR and Leicester etc.
As for Sean Dyche, he was also fired by Watford after 12 month's in charge, with a record of: P49 - W17 - D17 - L15 - 34.69% wins, but he signed a few duds such as Arfield, who by luck just happened to gell together to form a formidable unit and the rest is history.
So as I say, it's a very fine line between success and failure and lets be honest, if Town hadn't gone on this recent poor 10 match run, we could just a easily been up alongside such as Bournemouth chasing a play-off spot.
Anyhow, stick with Robins and watch us take off like sh-t off a shovel next season.
Well I reckon Robins' future at town will be determined by the first dozen games next season. He'll have had a dabble in the transfer market..a full summer to sort out fitness and tactics, so no excuses.
If Town replicate their recent run he'll be out by Xmas. So it's time to deliver the goods. I don't expect us to be promoted, but I do expect us to be bidding for a play off place by the end of the season...as per Bournemouth and several others.
I don't expect any more lack luster performances either..as per Donny, Blackpool and a few others...those lame efforts have indeed cost us the 15 points we have fallen short this time.
Am just enjoying the moment for now...
..oh, and looking forward to UTG's thread for the Leicester game
