Mourinho is, and always was, the logical choice to replace Fergie and keep the club winning trophies.
However, as good as he is I don't and didn't want him.

Mourinho underachieved at Madrid,
______________________________
Do you think the Barca side he was up against was one of the best ever?
Fergie was always partial to negative tactics when need be.

What!!!!!!!
The worst barca side in recent memory????? You sure bout that mate???
The same GREAT Barca team that thrashed Man U in the final at wembley only a year or so earlier!!!!!
Are you sure mate?
Of course he underachieved at Madrid, he didn't win the CL.
That is one statement I agree with, BUT to say he faced one of the worst Barca teams in recent memory is travesty. Not having that, because they were a real force up until Tito's standing down so to speak.
The same system that thrashed United at Wembley a season earlier.

You misunderstand me. The Barca side of last season for me were far from their best. Xavi and iniesta were knackered and Messi had a poor season by his standards. They were poor all season in the CL and got battered by Munich and IMO were there for the taking.
But Madrid last season under Jose were poor. They lost a lot of easy games in the league and in the CL were lucky to get past United and Galatasaray before being smashed by Dortmund.
With all the money Madrid spent, for them to not make one CL final under Jose will always count against him.
I read a great article today on another site about how real getting to the final this season makes Jose look a bit bad and it's true.

Spend another 100 mil, its only money

Didn't Spurs try that? Look where it got them.
I do get what Rob is saying but he's overstating how bad Barca were, Messi being poor by his standards being the most ridiculous thing. And they equalled the record points total in La Liga.
I just don't think they were quite up to it in the big games after losing Pep and team declining as a whole.
Madrid should have won La Liga last season really with the strength of their team and Barca losing Pep.
But Mourinho facked it up.
Mourinho teams to cautious.

HE might support an awful cricket team but Darren gets me
Mourinho's competence as a manager is being questioned tonight, by United fans, because he lost a CL match? Really?
Fergie had almost the better part of thirty years and only ever won the competition twice.
How many times has Mourinho won it with an English club?
What does that matter? My point was, the competition is tough to win. That's why only a handful of managers have ever won it multiple times.
No one is doubting Jose in a very good manager.
But IMO he's not really worthy of being called the special one.
He's no better than a lot of the very good managers out there right now.

It's harder winning it with English clubs.
That's why Fergie is the boss.
Dave, I was talking about the England cricket team.

Why would it be any harder winning it with an English club?
