Top 3? That boat has long since sailed. There are going to be 3 teams coming down with finances bolton can only dream of now. No we are now just one of the rats and mice teams now.
Golden wyn, I remember reading that he had got his targets but not that they were signed sealed and delivered.
He also mentioned that Trotter and Danns were ready to join as contracted players. Maybe you are referring to those two?
Benny rats and mice teams can win against the odds but will we be one of them? We will probably be the joker in the pack once again.
We will have a larger squad than Burnley .
So no excuses.
Burnley have a better manager though.
TRR - to answer your 'Title'
YES, it was that bad!!
My reason is simple. As a fan who has watched Bolton religiously since 1975, I can assure you that this season just gone, ranks with one of the worst. Not necessarily in terms of results overall (as obviously we weren't relegated or anything like that). But in terms of frustration it is right up there.
DF proved that when he picked the right players in the right formation, we were a force to be reckoned with. But for some reason, only known to Pep, he reverted back to type whenever possible and all the good work was undone!!
Injuries and illnesses over the season have not helped with some of the rotation.
In some cases rotation does actually work. Sadly where it falls down is when the replacements aren't as good as who they've come in for.
This is the problem. Rotation isn't the devil.
It does seem that during the bad run Dougie went all "Football manager" on us looking for the "super system" that breaks the match engine.
I get it
DF's idea of rotation. You draw your team formation on a big sheet of paper using crayons. 4-4-2 or diamonds whatever formation is in your mind.
You then redraw this but move everybody one or two places to the right (left if left handed) of the current place. The only player exempt would be the goalkeeper. I understand this bit does confuse Doug.
Now we all know how it's done so there should be no confusion when your hear the next team selection.
We aren't talking simple rotation though..

In the press this morning lloyd dyer is out of contact at Leicester. Would be a great signing.
Benny get with the times.
We don't do signings anymore. In the new era we call them loans. You have to comply with the cheap clause in the loans.
For the first time in years, I'm getting a negative vibe on here....... 🐑
Keith Andrews on loan from Bolton to Brighton not
Deemed good enough for Bolton by freedman but is now playing in the playoffs ,
My question is was Dougie right to send him out on loan ? .in your opinion

A good read.
Sounds like a sure starter for us next season!
Seems like Eaves will be usurped by the newer talent in Clough, Iliev and Youngs.
If Coventry, who were reportedly interested, come in for him then we'd best snap their hands off. Even if it is for 57p and a promise of a go of their sister.
Eaves just not good enough. You can keep loaning him out but hes never going to come back a good enough player for the championship. Time to cut the ties.
And it says he as another 2 yrs on his contract.
Just how long a contract did he get?.
Df gave eaves a 3 year contract last summer. Coyle signed him in 2010 and 4 years he has not developed. To me he is a tryer but just not skilful enough. A bit like me in that respect.
Then again Adam Bogdan wasn't deemed worthy of playing for Crewe when he went on loan there a while back - playing 1 rather iffy 1st team match.
It may all boil down to the team about him and other factors but still the general feeling is cut losses.
Interesting point. Eaves either comes back and trains with the 1st team squad or be sold. There is just no point in him going out on loan again.
I think we have that much tripe on good money, nobody's going to take them.My opinion us that Eaves is a donkey, will never make it.
Interesting point about Bogdan's loan to Crewe. I think Eaves needs to come back and train with the first team, if by January he isn't making any sort of in roads on the match day squad then is the time to cut our losses and sell. As much as I have some misgivings about Dougie, I'd rather him make his own mind up on Eaves based on what he has seen rather than what other clubs tell him, if only because it sends the message to the other youngsters that they won't be condemned based on one bad loan spell.
