The goal will do him a whole lot of good, he always performs at a much higher level when he seems happy in himself.
Interesting to see whether he starts against Southampton or whether we will save him for Chelsea in the cup.
Gomez was terrific again last night, really has been a revelation so far this season. He now seems to have the confidence to step out of defence and drive forward past opposition midfield to help us in attack too.
Lovren coming back will be a boost for the squad but he may have to get used to sitting on the bench. He will only have himself to blame for that.
Depends on Firmino's eye but I think Sturridge will play in the cup again.
On a side note did people see the Spurs game as well?
Really capitulated in those final few minutes, hell of a goal from Icardi but Inter battered them in the final minutes and were well worth the win.
4 goals conceded in 3 games now for them from set pieces as well. Injuries to Alli and Lloris, rumoured unrest behind the scenes with Alder/Trippier. Poch's post match press conference rant, 3 losses on the bounce. They are in a bad place at the moment.

Inter had the better of the first half and the luck for the spurs goal was unreal.
They aren’t looking good!
Everybody has been telling them that they've been standing still in terms of their squad. They're still good enough for a top 4 finish imo but as the years go by, they're dropping further behind.

I feel for Poch as well. Clearly a very good manager but that only gets you so far if your squad is clearly deficient. Levy facked up big time in the summer.
Poch to united this summer.
As for sturridge he should be in for salah at the weekend. And every opportunity to get a teammate a goal that was instead a missed selfish shot should be highlighted during the video reviews.
Hopefully we roll saints over fairly easily at the weekend
For me...if Levy doesn't want to pay the high fees for players these days, the other obvious solution is invest in your scouting department.

Doubt it!
I think he might go with the same 3 as last night and then change it for the cup game.

Think Keita will play against Saints with Wijnaldum dropping back into the deeper position. I doubt Saints will attack much.
Well thst was a wee roller coaster last night. Was totally infuriating how we let them back into the match. i really did have that "here we go again" feeling of dread creeping in the longer it stayed 2-1. Thank feck we clawed the win back.
Really love this squad. Every week there's another player or two or three that you think, "he's just brilliant" whether it be Milner running around like a man possessed, Hendo dishing out the verbal boot up the bum and keeping everything ticking over, or Bobby just being Bobby. Every match someone else give you a reason to love them.
It's such a pleasure to watch this team.

Keita and Henderson will definitely start the game. Hendo was on the bench v Spurs, Keita last night. Gini will be rested I expect.
Fabinho or Milner is the one i'm unsure about. Seems an ideal opportunity to give Fabinho his debut but Wednesday is a good option too.
Gomez, maybe TAA and one of Salah/Mane could all be rested too. Matip/Shaq might come in as well.
Vs Saints:
Alisson
TAA Matip VVD Robertson
Keita Fabinho Henderson
Salah Firmino Shaq
vs Chelsea
Mignolet
TAA Gomez Matip Moreno
Milner Wijnaldum Keita
Shaq Sturridge Mane

Mane should be dropped too then cos he did the same.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mane was probably the worst culprit, trying to smash it from a ridiculous angle instead of giving wij an open goal.
Clyne for the game vs Chelsea rather than TAA.
Should be able to put out a very strong team for both games, squad depth

Would like Curtis Jones to get some minutes in the cup. Brewster was also promised game time.

Brewster not fit until December apparently but could be a big plus. He'll be taking Sturridge spot next season I reckon.
Oh...never knew he was injured

Clyne must be back on the product as he's not been getting in the matchday squad.
