Idk why they went out of their way to add the unless an immediate goalscoring opportunity... Only case that will be of more benefit is late on in a game thats level, a late goals prob more valuable and a late rc.

I told you why. Generally in football a goal is the ultimate and wipes out everything else, unless it's violent conduct. Personally I prefer it that way but one thing is for sure, that won't be changing, it's generally accepted as being better for the game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets face it, its not for the good of the game they do it. The incident with Robbo proved that, they had a glorious chance to make it 2-0 didnt take it, but happy to ruin the spectaclte as 11v11.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How did it? They allowed time to keep Robertson on the pitch but Fulham didn't score so were left with the only option, red card for Robertson. I'm really struggling with what you want here.

DOGSO fouls are normally unintentional and therefore a red card is a big punishment. The next punishment down, a yellow isn't punishment enough by any means. So of the referee can allow a few seconds to see whether a goal has been scored, for me that's beneficial to the game.

If it were up to me, I'd remove the red altogether and go with a yellow card and a penalty for DOGSO, unless no attempt to play the ball.

the pereira one numerous former refs were disgusted by that not being a rc, one said the dip on robbo one was a coming together though

The Perreira one was a clear red for me. The Diop one borderline. I can see why it wasn't given but it wouldn't have been a shock had it been. VAR could have absolutely got involved in the former.

one of them said it was clearly done with intent by pereira too :/

So a pen for a foul outside the box?

Yeah

I think the balance of the offence versus the reward is perfect. The offending player gets a yellow keeping him on the pitch and the attacking team get their goalscoring opportunity back.

Yeah I think it will take a DOGSO foul to be just before the line of the penalty box and the defending team arguing the foul was in the box, to avoid a red before they actually consider a change. A centimeter could be the difference between a red and a yellow
