so it should have been a yellow card and play on, the ref facked up big time. the advantage allowed the atk to continue and they had a clear goal scoring opportunity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it absolutely should not have. It should have been a red for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

However, the non-offending team should not be given two chances to benefit.

If the referee plays the advantage following an offence that would have resulted in a red or yellow card being shown, the card must be shown the next time the game stops. However:

if the offence was denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, a yellow card is shown instead of a red card, as playing the advantage allowed the attack to continue
________
theres no mention of fouled player specifically in any of it.

Per the laws of the game, the goal scoring opportunity belongs to the player and not the team. Wilson was denied the opportunity so Robbo was rightfully sent off. Although that doesn't explain why the Villa player wasn't sent off the other day when Nunez scored. Had Jimenez scored then would it have been a red?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dont think it would have been red had Jimenez scored. They wouldn't have punished the defending team twice.

Suppose the good news is that Robbo is only suspended for the cup game as red cards carry over into the cup competitions. Doubt Tsimikas will be fit for midweek or Spurs at the weekend, so probably need to play Norris against Saints then bring Robbo back in for Spurs.

Slot misses the Southampton one too? are yellow cards for managers competition specific? i know they changed the cumulative yellows for players to be served in the same comp now?

My main gripe with the refereeing was Fulham should have been down to ten with the foul on Gravenberch.

I think with Gomez' performance on the left he will play and Quansah will come in next to VVD.

Yeah i thought that was also a red but less clear cut than the Gravenberch one.

I am still not convinced by Chelsea but they will be hot on our heels by the end of the weekend if they win today, and you’d expect them to beat Brentford.

I am massively and pleasantly surprised Arsenal have failed to beat both Fulham and Everton though, was expecting them to win both those pretty comfortably.
So I do feel we have been massively let off the hook lately.

Or maybe we’ve let Arsenal off the hook? Both teams will probably be saying the same tbf. They could have been right behind us, we could have virtually put them out the title race.

Chelsea are a good balanced team with not a big drop in quality when they bring squad players in, apart from when replacing Palmer or Caicedo.

However I think this season is too early for them to keep this up until the end of the season, unless other teams don't have great seasons and we have a low points total winner.

Fully expecting City to turn it on at some point and go on a run. I think it will be too late however. Arsenal have been way too pragmatic this season. This level of pragmatism began towards the end of last season and they've stuck to it. I had Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Arsenal, in that order before the season kicked off and I'm still expecting that to be the case.

Chelsea have a lot of tough away games left so I think they will drop too many points.

I'm not convinced City will go on any kind of run that they normally do. They're completely broken.

Did Robbo even recover that from studs on his knee challenge which should have been a red?

We never get protected by the refs.

Also don't forget that pen we should have had when Tete took out Gomez. The excuse was he was trying to block a shot. Is that a new rule now that if a striker is about to shoot you can foul whoever you want as long as you block the shot.

Spurs has definitely become a must win at this point after dropping points in the last two. Forget Arsenal, Chelsea are our biggest threat this season.

You are so reactionary

What’s wrong with this?

I don’t think we’re at the point of ‘must win games’ by any stretch of the imagination. I would imagine that two games ago you and everyone else would have had Arsenal as the biggest threat. You can’t just write them off because they’ve drawn two games.

posted 1 day, 18 hours ago

No idea who'll win it but I think Arsenal are out of it, or certainly 4th favourites as I'd even put City ahead of them despite their troubles.

City's is a blip in form that can be recovered once they get a few wins and confidence comes back, Arsenal however just don't seem to have the answer to their lack of goal threat. They've gone 3 PL games now without scoring from open play.

They could rectify it in the Jan window but I don't see them suddenly winning 18-20 of the remaining games which they probably need to do.

posted 1 day, 18 hours ago

It's beyond a blip for City now. Guardiola has never had this in his career.

posted 1 day, 18 hours ago

True but you already know they'll have a player or two lined up in Jan.

Probably be Zubimendi annoyingly.

posted 1 day, 18 hours ago

City can spend very big in Jan especially after the release of news on how they are profiteering. Last 2 draws could have taken them out of the race completely but win today and they will think that they can still enter the race.

posted 1 day, 18 hours ago

Maybe but we could be back in for him ourselves.

That was a definite penalty in my view. What he was trying to do is irrelevant which is what I was alluding to earlier when I think Stephen Warnock on commentary was stating it wasn't intentional. Intention doesn't come into it. He fouled Gomez in the box.

posted 1 day, 18 hours ago

Apparently they judged it that Gomez fouled Tete
