Sadly no defence for Robbo. That was just stupid. He is on his last legs. We do need to look for a new left back in the summer.
Having said that I was more annoyed with Trent. He was actually a disgrace today. Only player in the red shirt who did not give his all. Every player ran the extra mile but he left others to get him out of a hole when he could not be bothered to sprint.
Fulham fully exposed him today and that was before the red card.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we have to understand that Trent was one of the players that was asked to play in multiple positions when Robertson was sent off. He wasn't really playing as a right back. He was likely exhausted, which is why he was taken off, trying to cover multiple positions.
Gravenberch did his covering of multiple positions much better but then his was easier, drop back a few yards when out of possession and get back into midfield when in possession.
I thought Gomez was excellent covering left back and centre back.
When Trent came off and later Quansah came on covering the right back position, we were worse defensively and that's how their second came.
Although not too many complaints from me. We're the only team in the league for me who could have dominated a game and even deserved to win it, playing the way we did and the chances created, when down to ten for almost 90 minutes.

The red last night was shocking too, first off he took a domey touch sideways towards vvd so theres covering defender. Secondly ref played advantage and fulham had a clear goalscoring opportunity , jominez missed it then the ref pulled it back and sent robbo off? Wtf is all that about?

Then let the entire fulham team surround him and our captain couldnt even talk to him

Robertson denied a clear goalscoring opportunity and therefore a red was an easy and correct choice.
He'd had a poor game up to that point already. Not sure how much the awful challenge on him played a part in this. When Kane made that two footed lunge on him and didn't get sent off, Robertson later got sent off. Perhaps his head went but one thing is for sure it was the easiest red card you'll ever see.

Did he? Fulham had a clear goalscoring opp and misse dit as i said also the tpuch wilson took was in no way creating a clear goalscoring opp for himself. And he ref played on you cant play advantage to the point a player has a 1v1 misses then pull it back, advantage has been played out to its full?

If Wilson had got up and went on himself, advantage was played it likely wouldn't have been called back. However if he wasn't fouled he either could have had the clear opportunity to score himself or passed to his teammate. These options were removed due to Robertson's foul.

Yeah these guys don't go by laws of the game, just what they consider common sense. However referees have to go by the laws of the game. Think it was Warnock on commentary yesterday and he kept coming out with nonsense like unintentional when fouls were made which have absolutely no meaning in regards to whether a foul is given or not.

From the IFAB
The referee can wait a few seconds to allow a possible advantage to develop, and if the non-offending team does not benefit and gains no advantage, the free kick can be given for the original offence. However, the non-offending team should not be given two chances to benefit. For instance, if a player is fouled, recovers, has a shot at goal and fails to score, the referee cannot go back and give a free kick for the original offence.

If the referee plays the advantage following an offence that would have resulted in a red or yellow card being shown, the card must be shown the next time the game stops. However:
if the offence was denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, a yellow card is shown instead of a red card, as playing the advantage allowed the attack to continue
if the offence was stopping or interfering with a promising attack, no card is shown as playing the advantage allowed the attack to continue

Per the laws of the game, the goal scoring opportunity belongs to the player and not the team. Wilson was denied the opportunity so Robbo was rightfully sent off. Although that doesn't explain why the Villa player wasn't sent off the other day when Nunez scored. Had Jimenez scored then would it have been a red?
