Fackin builder was doing up some work for us. Kitchen extension and has now told us he has coronavirus. We have a half built kitchen.

I'm unemployed for 6 days next week, puts me in a very precarious position between jobs if I do contract the virus.

I'm playing the odds, so will continue as is. If I get hit with the virus, so be it.

Median days is not 20 days before showing symptoms, it's 5 with almost all happening in 14 days. There have been incredibly isolated reports of up to 24 days.

Read what I wrote.

Whether you are feeling symptoms or not, the pathogen can remain in the respiratory tract for upto 37 days, with the median being 20 days.

So if you self isolate for 2 weeks - that’s 14 days.. you could still be able to infect others after that time

I have a feeling we are missing tonnes of cases. We desperately need serology surveys, if anything just to calm everyone down about mortality rates. When politicians and footballers are already getting it with just 500 or so confirmed cases, I wouldn't be surprised if the UK is really at 20-50,000 cases already.

Agree, if you look at global medical outcomes currently 94% recover 6% die, according to officially release stats

the vast majority will survive, but 50k spreading exponentially is very significant compare to 400

It's simple if you get 10 serious cases in a hospital you can concentrate fully on all of them and save 8bfor example. If you get an explosion of cases and 2,000 go to hospital at the same time you can't concentrate on each patient as much as you could before and in worst case (Lombardy right now) you have to chose who gets treatment and who doesn't. Due to these circumstances you can only save 1000 of the 2000 patients. Your mortality rate from the severe cases has now gone from 20% to 50% from the same illness.

And central to stopping this is people

A) avoiding large gatherings
B) being scared and so washing their hands religiously as well as all other precautions

People downplaying it are doing NO favours to anyone
