I don't think it should happen but I'm almost certain football will be stopped soon, along with pretty much everything else.
Things are just going a bit mental in this country now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it will always be in the hands of the players/managing staff . As long as they are happy to continue, it will, but it definitely feels like support to a temporary stop is growing. I’m sure they are in constant dialogue about how everyone is feeling about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually want it to stop tbh
Stop long enough for us to get some centre backs back and I'll be a happy boy. Would suit us better than any team in the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I want us to win it as we are, that would demoralise the chasing pack immensely. If people could be a little more sensible and realise this is an inevitable dip in form and be patient, then I think things will click into place and we’ll be fine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think we will win it as we are. Having no centre backs is really harming the way we play, and I just don't think we will find enough consistency this season to beat City.
Not disastrous by any means, as long as we quality for the CL and address the CB issue in the summer (shouldn't rely on the injury prone Matip or inconsistent Gomez) then I'd see us as favourites next year.
I think choosing not to sign a centre back this winter will cost us the title but hope I'm wrong.

The peak is predicted as January 15th. So we have around a week of deaths going up. The worrying issue is that the average age of hospitalisation are coming down, so even once we get the most vulnerable vaccinated in the next 2 months, the NHS will still be under huge pressure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only issue I see is that if there is a serious injury in football, that's another hospital bed taken up. Not sure they'd want that to happen and it's a risk in every game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s a bit dramatic.....

or back where it came from atleast
Thiago and Shaqiri looked to have a lot of good link up play in midfield even if it was only against a bunch of knackered schoolkids. I assume they would have played together a few seasons at Bayern so would know each other’s game quite well.
Hopefully a combination we see more of as Shaq definitely deserves more minutes.

People should just stick to their names, stop feckin changing, Especially you FRED
As for the age of hospitalisation going down, its theorised its because the new strain is more transmissible, leading to higher viral loads, Initial viral load is just as important as age when determining how badly you suffer,
Just makes a summer of the government telling kids they have absolutely no risk, and are immune to the virus doubly stupid imo.
As for tightening up covid rules, im sure this sudden wave in football has nothing to do with those NYE parties.
Those players should be receiving a knock from police departments and FA bans.

The wider concern is that people are banking on the vaccine to relieve stress on the NHS in the hope that over 70s will be vaccinated leading to things getting closer to normal. If the people coming in are suddenly outside that age bracket, then maybe the lockdown goes on longer....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We won't be out of lockdown before march either way.
The ability to get back outside in the warmer weather should buy us the last of the time we need to slash the "R rate"
My hope is that it will change the government's plans to not vaccinate certain sections of the population tbh.

Nah zero evidence it is more virulent. The not so nice answer is many hospitals are starting to have to chose who gets beds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's symptomatic of locking down too late.
We need to fix the scaling of the tiers and they should be based on a two week projection of hospitalisations against the local NHS trust capacity.
That way we don't ever need to kick the over 70s out to die, and other services can keep running.
I'd rather lock down little and often than deny people cancer treatments.
