I meant the immediate game back.

It was a 3 week break before the CL final in fairness.

Tbf we weren’t great in the final. But then we were always in control. You’d think this would be different tho cause we really need to refresh some batteries in the squad.

On the basis we can't get much worse this break may do us the world of good for once.

I'm not even sure firmino is injured, or it's possible he had to play through injury while Jota was out, so I'm hoping he comes back improved and he loves a goal against Arsenal does Bobby.

I'm quite hopeful against Arsenal. Their midfield ain't great, they love to play it from the back, keeper us bang average and Salah loves turning over Luiz.

However, most of their play comes down their left hand side which could be a problem. Solve it an we've a great chance of winning, and it is must win.

I think we’ve won there twice in the last 10 years which is pretty terrible. We seem to have a mental block there, like Old Trafford.

I’ve not had a bet on Cheltenham today, but posted this on another article before the race.......

I’d be a bit wary of backing Chacun Por Soi. Obviously it could easily hack up, but a lack of a previous Cheltenham run makes the odds pretty skinny imo. I’d be tempted to go with Put the Kettle on, to win with a cover bet to place at 9/4....

Well chuffed to have missed a 17/2 winner

Last 10 years

Liverpool wins = 2
Arsenal wins = 3
Draws = 4

It's not that bad

Rumours FSG are now looking to expand the group, looking at another European football team and an MLS team. Interesting

Over £500m of investment with Lebron now owning a 2% stake in the club.

A more global reach means more fans means more revenue which hopefully translates to more talent in the squad.

Yeah, Lebron can’t own an NBA team while he’s still a player, but seemingly FSG can.

They’ve also got a $750m investment from some firm for a 10% stake, so that’s where all the speculation comes from.

FSG have a football team, a baseball team, a nascar team, and with James on board and $750 of cash it makes sense for an NBA team next.

MLS is interesting though. The cost of buying a franchise is starting to rise, they’ve already got the next 3 years of expansion teams ready to go.

Be curious where they look

Chelsea aren’t conceding many, but they aren’t scoring many either. I don’t think there is anyone that is scary atm, City and Bayern yes, but they’re not perfect.

Knockout football anything can happen. Luck of the draw, let’s see who we get.

The next MLS expansion team will cost around 300million.

15billion for a basketball team?

Won't they just buy an existing team? American teams move all over the place don't they? You would have thought they would want a Boston based club...

Far more interesting to me is another European football club.. owners can't have two clubs in the same competition can they? It's a model that's worked for red bull though.. you can afford more of a punt on out of favour promising youth at a lesser club with a similar ethos

I can't see us taking gambles like Sturridge or coutinho again now, formerly promising players rotting in reserves.. Or even as Red bull did with Haaland..

They will doubtlessly become a semi feeder team,

I’m not sure how change of ownership works in mls. Their whole system is mindbendingly obtuse.

As I understand, MLS itself owns every club, but sells franchises. If you’re a successful franchise, you stay running the club. If not, they’ll look for other owners.

Boston would absolutely make sense on a lot of levels for an FSG owned MLS team. NE Revolution, just outside of Boston, are a steady team working within very tight budgetary restraints. They’re prime for some financial investment.

The problem with trying to take ownership of them is thst they don’t actually have their own stadium. They’re owned by the fella that owns the NFL Patriots and play in their stadium. Buy that franchise and you need to find another few hundred million for a stadium too.

I wouldn't mind them finding an affiliate European team so we could send them our youngsters.

Capital investment for stadia is a pretty safe bet for them anyway tbh.

Win win for FSG, Clubs value increases, so does their wealth on paper, meanwhile they ringfence some of their wealth in a pretty gilt edged loan.

Given their ownership of NESN they will want regional franchises I'm sure..

The MLS is fascinating in the way it's starting to hit home certainly amongst less well off Americans. Atlanta is a prime example where the Braves new stadium was moved away from central Atlanta to a 'whiter' suburb north of the city.

The MLS team came along and is very much downtown and is seen more part of the Atlanta cultural fabric than the Braves now.

Once again, all sources are the athletic

This is interesting that the Revolution are thinking along the same lines: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020/12/06/new-england-revolution-ownership-committed-boston-area-home-we-want-build-stadium
