Also City fans doing their best to piiiissss off pep

If Barca beg him, he will go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think so. Have you seen them midweek against Bayern. They were dreadful and were lucky it wasn't 0-6. Barca are in bad state financially and they have some average forward players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this, cannot see him going somewhere where the deck is stacked against him.

PSG though... I could see them sacking Poch if Pep was available

can see him going psg esp if they fail to win the cl this season.

cant see him going to a club that needs a rebuild with certain restrictions on how they can achieve it etc.

Pep will go to whatever the safest job in world football is next year. The guy is a coward. Revive a fallen giant like Liverpool with some of the stingiest owners in world football then talk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He doesn't need to. I always find this a weird argument.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends on what the need is. He doesn't need to in order to be happy or to be rich, but to be considered a great, yes he needs to. A monkey could win the Champions League with prime Barca with the 11 best players in the world in their positions gifted to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’ll never understand the lack of appreciation for what Pep did at Barca.

A coach with little experience shifted the culture of one of the biggest clubs in the world overnight. He immediately got rid of their talisman Ronaldinho and the next most creative player Deco. Zambrotta was shipped off and Thuram told he could leave. Etoo told he could leave as well. He broke player power inside a month.

He gave a 20 year old Busquets a leading role - someone completely unheard of. Pedro ditto. Brought a player that couldn’t get into Utd’s team and made him a starting CB.

He didn’t inherit the best 11 players in the world. He made that team. I’ll never understand the criticisms of Pep’s Barca team. The guy is a genius.

Messi turned Barca into prime Barca.

Pep just kept the momentum and philosophy of Cruyff's 'the dream team'

He has even admitted as much himself...

'On the legacy of Cruyff's football philosophy and the passing style of play he introduced to the club, future coach of Barcelona Pep Guardiola would state, "Cruyff built the cathedral, our job is to maintain and renovate it."

Perhaps my memory fails but I don't remember Barca being on the way down when Pep took over. They were on the way up IMO.

They were on their way down from where Rijkaard had taken them, in his final 2 seasons they didn't win a trophy and finished 3rd in his final season. Eto'o was publicly criticising Rijkaard and Ronaldinho was unfit and out of shape.

Then Guardiola took over. Got rid of the problems, and promoted or signed talented young players. He did a phenomenal job.

I really think there's some middle ground to be had here.

The best players in Peps prime Barca were pretty much all there when he took over, Messi, iniesta and Xavi being the three most important players in his squad..

Yes he bought well too, and deserves praise for that, but also within the frame of reference that it's not hard to convince your targets to come play for Barca, with a plethora of the best players in that generation.

The same spine also had Spain dominant on the international stage, so you can't say it was all down to Pep.

I'll give him a LOT of praise for his managerial quality, his signings are definitely better than not, but there is also truth in the fact that he managed one of only two teams capable of winning in Spain at the time, moved to one of only two teams capable of winning in Germany, then on to City, who were by far the most stacked team in the UK and are still financially doped up to the eyeballs allowing him to compete beyond the rest of the pack

I think its clear hes a world class coach one of the best there has been. Hes not a manager, i doubt hes ever had what it takes to do it the hard way so the speak and he admitted as much himself, hes a good guy tbf isnt deluded.

When it was suggested to him that he is the best manager in the world, Guardiola told Sky Sports : “I was,” before taking a step back to say that he never once thought of himself in such high regard.

“What is the best coach in the world?” he added. “I never felt I am the best, never in my life.

“When I won six titles in a row in Barcelona and won trebles, I never felt that. I won because I had extraordinary players at big clubs.

“There are incredible managers, they don't have these players, they don't have these big clubs. I'm a good manager but not the best.

“Give me a team that is not like Manchester City, I am not going to win.”

Look at the teams he took over and what Klopp got, I’d like to see Pep take over a club and actually build a side on a budget.

Don’t think he’d be half as good.

Messi, Xavi and Iniesta coming up through the youth system into 1st team football.

I think it's safe to say most managers would be happy if ' they had issues' like that.

Also it’s very easy to say he inherited great players like xavi, well he still had to promote them with the expectation of winning things. Messi was a known crazy talent before pep, but iniesta, Xavi, Busquets all weren’t. Plus Pedro.

It was a midfield of Edmilson, Deco and Van Bommel under rijkaard.
