I remember the funniest bit about that Karius howler in the Tranmere game was the guy that scored for them was a massive Liverpool fan and rather than celebrate he was just angry at how shiite Karius was and made him know it, almost as if he knew that would cost us challenging for anything meaningful for the near future.
We signed Alisson after and the rest is history. Absolute joke of a keeper, Karius.
It just seems so odd that someone so rubbish should get such opportunities and massive games. Maybe he was great in training but just couldn't handle the pressure of a game.
This feels a bit revisionist. He messed-up in the final, fine, but he was solid before then wasn't he?

No. He made numerous mistakes before then also. He was that bad I wanted Mignolet starting ahead of him. Had a great season in Germany before we signed him by all accounts however.
Regardless I'm glad it went the way it went as we ended up treating the position as a priority having not signed a good keeper since Reina left.

5 years and make Captain please. Does he even play for Spain now?
I think Karius was ok before the final but he still had a mistake in him. He almost did the same thing with the Bale 3rd goal in the semi final v Roma but it hit the bar if I remember right.
Do wonder though if he'd have been a reliable keeper had the CL final not happened.
It's very rare anyone would come back from that.

I get that much. Some people see stupid and have to react. I see stupid, I just laugh.
Some takes are horrendous but if you allow yourself to still get annoyed by the same posters, that's been posting the same way for as long as 606 has been active, then you just as much to blame.
They post that way to get a reaction. Even I'm guilty of it sometimes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is very disrespectful. I actually praised FSG for not signing anyone in 2019. Equally they deserve all the hate and more for what they did to us last year. Again I'd like to see us make all these signings AND not be asset asripped of half the squad before they receive some praise again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hate You don’t go to games, so who are you to decide our owners are deserving of hatred and whatever bile social media junkies like yourself can dream up?
You also need to educate yourself on what asset stripping actually is. That’s definitely something that FSG have never done.
He wasn't terrible before the CL nightmare by any means but he looked every bit a £4m back up goalkeeper, what we paid for him.
The guy kicked a goal kick out for a corner in one game.

He also flapped at crosses a lot and most of the time got away with it, although u do remember one high profile one where he flapped it out to a Spurs player, think we lost that game in injury time or something. Although my memory is awful so was probably Mignolet against Everton.

Yeah that was it!
Honestly Alisson has made as many mistakes, however the way he plays it will happen and the benefits of him playing that way are massive for how we are supposed to play.
The Karius mistakes in the CL were more pressure getting to him than anything. Lower division players with better handling of pressure easily deal with those incidents. He literally threw the ball to an opposition player for a goal then somehow let one straight down his throat go through his hands. Awful.
Karius never convinced me, he was worse than Mignolet for parrying shots into danger and handling was even worse than Mignolets couldn't catch a cold.
Agree. I always preferred Mignolet also. He wasn't outstanding but decent and consistent. Thankfully the Karius blunders forced the hands of the decision makers to go and get a quality keeper.
