I think Henderson will stay but happy either way, still think he has an important part to play. If they give us a tasty fee and he's happy to go then that's good too.
We should tell the Saudis Hendo isn't for sale and they should focus their energies on Thiago instead.
It's the Euros next summer and Henderson is still very much part of the squad; moving to Saudi would effectively mean international retirement and he'd miss his last tournament. Can't see it. Next summer might be different.
Could be a way for Hendo to get another contract from us with the current one expiring in 25.
This is pretty much lazy journalism.
he should not get a new contract
Wouldn't put it past Hendo to use media to exert a little pressure, fairly sure the same has happened in the past when he wasn't playing regularly, or before he signed a new contract.
Don't think he will head to Saudi but he probably does want assurance on playing time. He only signed the new contract like a year ago I think
Dominic King is saying he's been offered £700k a week
Can't see even him rejecting that if true.
Ornstein reporting it too.
The money these clubs have is ridiculous and we might as well pack it in.

£35.4m a year.
Yep, I’m taking that. Saudi trying to do to the PL what they did to the PGA in some desperate attempt to become relevant.

Not sure losing your captain and vice captain in the same window is a good thing, but he would be crazy to reject that offer. Plus we have a lot of leaders already in the dressing room, who I’m sure will step up if he does leave.
This Saudi thing is really weird though, or is just me?

It’s just the football version of LIV golf.
Assuming he's going, it's going to be sad that he won't get a proper send off in front of the kop.
We'll probably have to replace him with a homegrown midfielder

Isn't he already injured?
Funny how they describe it as a life changing offer as if he’s been on minimum wages his whole life. He’s already a multi millionaire, not that I’d blame him one bit. But it’s not exactly rags to riches….
To be fair Term I think he'll be set to earn more money in 1 year over there than the rest of his career combined.

Oh I know that and good on him, but he’s probably got more than enough for a generation or two to live pretty comfortably.
Just found it funny how it was written….
Would prefer to keep Hendo considering the experience already gone but he cant turn down that money. Saudi is only like 6 hours away. Private jet back to family whenever he wants.
Think we've got plenty of experience without him

Salah, Alisson, Van Dijk, Matip, Trent, Robertson, Fabinho. Not lacking in experience at all.
It’s not the experience I think we’ll miss so much as the leadership. He’s the mouthpiece for the players off the pitch and quite often he’s the only one talking, encouraging, motivating when the team is going through tougher moments. It’s why he plays in so many big games - he’s good when the chips are down.
Our other senior players - Salah, VVD, TAA, Fabinho, Thiago, Alisson - are all relatively quiet, lead by example types.
If you’d asked me to produce a list of likely player Saudis would pay £700k a week to then Henderson would have been way, way, way down it! But I wouldn’t blame the guy for taking the money. He’s won loads, lifted a load of trophies as captain. Now he gets a ludicrous pay day. Not a bad career all in all.
