If we’d signed Havertz and Werner they’d have lit up the league. Felt they’d compliment each other very well under Klopp.

Instead of them going to Chelsea I mean.

but I also like Havertz so…

Why? Serious question actually. I never saw him play in Germany so maybe it's me missing something but from his time in England, I don't see what there is to particularly like as a player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was awesome in Germany, such a good skill set. First touch is good, vision good, surprisingly good dribbler for his size, good in the air and has a bit of needle. I wanted him to replace Firmino.
I’m inclined to agree with Freds post above and also think he came to England too early.
Footballers will always chase the money but joining Chelsea ruins careers. Mo and KDB got out young and quick for the cancer to not spread.

Fair enough. From what I've seen (relatively small sample admittedly) he can be good at those things but I don't see any consistency. Can take care of the ball and pass well, but gives the ball away a lot. Can finish well but misses a lot of chances. Has a good touch but often leaves him.
Do I wonder whether his generic skillset (and I don't say that as a criticism as such) shone more in the slightly lower quality German league.
Havertz is a ten in a 4-2-3-1 he simply doesn't work in any other system. Can't play in a midfielder three as he's easily dispossessed and out muscled, allows runners to go and general doesn't do the work required. Doesn't work as a false 9, which was patently obvious at Chelsea as he's poor with his back to goal, out muscled and awful in front of goal.
In the ten position he doesn't have to do much of the defensive work he would in midfield but can showcase what he's actually good at, dropping into space, receiving the ball, threading it and running at players.
A very strange signing for Arsenal who proceeded to play him in the false 9 position which patently didn't work at Chelsea. They've tried him in midfield and recently went back to false 9 again. He is again flopping badly.
Werner was never suited to a Chelsea system. Extremely well suited to a Liverpool system and I suspect he'll be suited to the Spurs system. The problem is he's had a couple of years spent at Chelsea where it didn't work out, with documented issues with home sickness, went back to Germany and wasn't much better and now back in England, when you'd expect a player would have needed to be ripping it up in Germany to be good enough for a top club in England. Will be interesting to see how that goes.
Still think it’s a bit weird that people think Havertz would have teared it up under Klopp.
Under two different clubs and managers, he drifts in and out of games (a lot of games you forget he’s playing entirely) His skillset isn’t particularly strong in any area, does limited work off the ball in terms of work rate and can’t hit a barn door in front of goal. The reality is he just isn’t very good at football.
Kind of get it with Werner but Nunez is a very similar player to him, a rough diamond that needs a lot shaping that will take a lot of time to perfect.
I thought Martinelli was going to benefit from Havertz but Arsenal just don't move the ball up the field quickly enough...and it looks like Arteta has changed Martinelli's role this season as well

Arteta seems to be trying to be City v2 in how they play but it doesn't particularly suit the players. Last season they played quick attacking football which worked for the front 4, and with Rice now adding much needed defensive protection I find it odd he's changed tactics.
A lot more boring to watch this year and think Sky said something like 40% of their goals have come from set pieces.

Not sure Mamba, I get that argument with other players as mentioned, but you couldn't convince me with Havertz. Can't polish a tuurd and all that.
We'll never know for sure really but he has flopped at Chelsea, is flopping at Arsenal and looks sheet doing it so the evidence is on your side.
Don't forget, Havertz scored a CL winning goal. I know he's underperformed or underwhelmed at Chelsea and Arsenal but I still think he could have worked as a false 9 for us, when we had Mane and Salah at least

He is awful as a false 9. He needs space and players ahead of him where he can pick them out. He can't play with his back to goal which a false 9 needs to do as when the ball comes into him he's quickly dispossessed due to not being able to hold it and lay it off. It's literally the worst of all the positions he's been tried in.
He played false 9 in Germany.
In fact his hold up play is pretty good imo. It’s his finishing that has been rank in England
Yeah he's strong on the ball, which is surprising as he is very slight. No worries, difference of opinion with no consequence

Definitely a difference of opinion here. He's the opposite of strong on the ball for me, when he's required to hold it up, so often in comes in to him and under pressure from a defender with his back to go the ball bounces off him and he hits the deck.
His hold up play is awful, although if given space he's very good. You just don't get that space often in the PL as a false 9.
Havertz best trait is arriving in the box late from a deeper position isnt it? and seeing as his overall play has a lot of weaknesses he needs the kinda free role behind a striker. basically odegaards best position so it was a strange signing but Arteta thinks he knows better and he can play a false 9 or mf role.
but hes diff to odegaard and maddison in that position more like a lampard, needs to be sat infront of 2 dms who do the work for him and he can just arrive in the box late with his runs etc. Thats how i see him anyway.
Arsenal are better with rice and jorginho for now until parteys back, and if ur picking Havertz or Odegaard to play with them theres only one winner. Jesus isnt the best but hes a better 9 than havertzz too by far. I dont see where Havertz fits, 65 fack million too. Some very strange decisions by Arteta after last seasons impressive push for the title. Hes facked himself over no1 else to blame.
65m would have got them a pretty good striker but even if there wasnt an ideal one available for that, 2 very good fullbacks or another mf and with a lot of change if smart about it.
