That first XI in 08/09 was the best team I think we had in the premier league era that midfield was nigh on perfect and Torres was just an incredible number 9.
What Klopp had on his side is a better squad and he’s a much better manager than Rafa as much as I loved Benitez.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know huh
Alisson
Trent Gomez Van Dijk Robertson
Fabinho
Henderson Wijnaldum
Salah Firmino Mane
Just might be better
I think Xabi Masch Gerrard is a better midfield even if that team requires legs in midfield more than anything else, also Matip over Gomez for me

his rant did what exactly, change his tactics, the players absorbed it and manifested into sh 1te? nah we just drew some games likely due to a poor squad outside the first xi
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the argument is that the rant (rightly or wrongly) demonstrated a pressure within the club. That the stress of leading was getting to the manager. And it spurred Utd on, they gained confidence.
Either way, after the press conference Utd won 17 of their last 20 games. And we went on our worst run of the season - dropping 11 points in 7 games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
United were on a 14 game run of clean sheets picking up 17 points out of 21 at the time of the rant. Liverpool had drawn their past four games and therefore were seven points behind with two games in hand.
The issue with that season was simply they were able to turn close games where they played badly into wins by bringing attackers off the bench and Liverpool had Ngog, since Crouch had left for games and Keane was sold six months after joining having just hit form.

Either way, doesn’t really matter. That Utd squad was arguably their strongest in the EPL era. Just couldn’t compete with their strength in depth.
Actual timeline:
Sunday 28th December - Newcastle 1 - 5 Liverpool
- top for new year
- FA cup win at Preston
Friday 9th January - Rafa rant
Saturday 10th January - 0-0 at Stoke
Monday 19th January - 1-1 home against Everton
- Everton then knock us out of FA Cup
Wednesday 28th Jan - 1-1 away at Wigan

Liverpool want to keep Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara, 32, but he is attracting interest from Brazilian side Flamengo and Al-Ettifaq of the Saudi Pro League. (Teamtalk)
Please get rid
Don’t mind either way. If they want to keep him then there will be a good reason.
Hopefully we see him in the team again soon tbh. We need players back!
Minus the injuries we actually have the squad to make Thiago the luxury player that he is.
But if we need to free up his wages for a CB or DM...then so be it

Looking forward to claiming those titles back of City. Filthy cheats.
When I mention 115 to City fans near me, they all say the same line "when did you become a Internet lawyer"
They are worried and they should be.
It honestly might be the PL's undoing because City will take down everyone with them
What I didn’t realise is that a third of the charges are about obstructing the investigation, which they have, so I’m far more hopeful of them being punished.
I cant decide if this will be a slap on the wrist as the PL are powerless or a calciopoli style punishment. I honestly can’t see titles being stripped sadly but I’d like to see them in the doldrums for a while.
