Walker at fault for both goals tonight, and has probably been at fault for 4 of goals all tournament, yet no mention of it at all on the BBC.

I dread to think the reaction if that was Trent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Precisely

He was also at fault in the world cup semi against Croatia
----------------------------------------------------------------------
not tht kane was ever in the box but his contribution offensively is shambolic too.

This was my thought initially. Although tbf to walker, certainly for their first goal he HAD to track the guy in the middle, which left Englands right side completely open, because the guy he was tracking would have scored for sure.
Where the fack was Mainoo and/or Rice ? They should have been patrolling the middle.

Gutted after that, we forever come up short when it matters. Doubt I’ll ever see England win a trophy in my lifetime.

Time for Southgate to go. I don’t blame him for the defeat tonight, but he’s just a loser of a manager that won’t ever win anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
why not blame him? he stuck with kane and played with 10 men for 60 minutes rofl. soon as watkins came on the spanish def had something to think about.

i said if he starts itd be the easiest game at the back theyve had all tourn and it was. Anyone could see that, Neville saying the tap in stat padding penalty merchant Kane is the best English player even .

Sticking with Kane was one of many errors but the biggest one was sitting back at 1-1 and playing for extra time. It was ridiculous. Southgate needs to fvck off immediately.

our def did well tbf, wasnt rdy after southgate prob bored them to death with the HT team talk and got caught cold. their second goal u have to give credit it was a tight onside and a ball very difficult to defend.

be interesting to see how we'd do if we'd not played with kane most the game. Guehis a brilliant cb isnt he? prob our player of the tourn overall.

Spain deserved it tbf they press well but yh its easy when they dont give a sheit about kane as hes pocketted and offers nothing lol.

i think tht was players nerves and probably backed up by southgates negativity in the back of their minds too tbf but prob mainly players tiredness/nerves.

Soutthgates readying gallagher and tripper to come on to play for pens i half thought to myself this mug deserves to lose when i heard they were warming up, and moments later we conceded... Absolute coward of a manager with no backbone. Again Spain deserved it far bigger cojones.

Trent should retire from international football until that caant is sacked. You can't say to me he couldn't do a better job than those useless midfielders like Mainoo. His delivery into the box is world class.

He deserves a better coach who can trust him unlike this Middlesbrough level manager.

no1 wud be in the box with kane on the pitch tho and foden

I’m glad Trent didn’t play tbh. He deserves better than to play under Southcvnt.

Southgate did well with removing the clique nature and building great team morale but I think he’s taken England as far as he can

Marc Guehi is wanted by Liverpool, who have begun negotiations to sign the 24-year-old Crystal Palace and England defender. (Fabrizio Romano via GiveMeSport)

Not a fan of this rumour. He is decent but very average in the air in both boxes.

I like Guehi, agree he is a bit weak in the air though.

Big fan of Guehi would absolutely take him. He’s young and English which helps.

I don't think he improves us

We're also linked with Goncalo Inacio. Do we need another center half ?

He adds to the squad depth which we need with the Champions League back. Don’t want to overexpose Quansah.

We have 4 decent CBs tbh but you can't really rely on the fitness of Gomez & Konate.

posted on 15/7/24

I like Guehi, he’s got good technique and he’s considered in his play. I like the way he stepped up for England in a tournament too, shows minerals. Bring HG never hurts, good age and seems humble. He also plays LCB as a speciality, where as Gomez and Konate don’t.

posted on 15/7/24

Guehi is the right profile we need. A very good 1v1 defender who isn't passive in his defending. He is also comfortable defending the wide areas.

posted on 15/7/24

First of all tournament hype. Remember Maguire looked like a world beater for England.

For me a big thing is his lack of height. He is not great in the air which means over reliance on VVD in both ends which can easily be negated. Quansah, Konate and Matip previously added in both boxes. We have big guys like Gakpo and Nunez who jump like they are 5ft8. Look at Arsenal and City who score loads of first goals in a game from a set pieces. We need that weapon and not lose it.

When it comes to ground work he is pretty good.

I liked what I saw from Guehi this summer. Hadn't really seen much of him at Palace but looked assured on the ball and aggressive in the tackle. Seemed to have good anticipation as well, got a foot in or nipped in front of the forward a few times.

He'll cost a fair chunk though I'd imagine. Buying from EPL teams is expensive unless they need to sell or contacts allow a cheaper price (last 12 months or release clause). I struggle to see us investing massively in him tbh.

Alexis Mac Allister - now World Cup and Copa America winner. He's had a hell of an 18 months

Surprised no one mentioned the shambolic US security (Not Trump incident) where fans were able to jump fences and force themselves into the ground like what happened in Wembley in 2021.

I think us buying a CB also depends on how Slot plans to use Trent

posted on 15/7/24

Well Trent has gone back to being England's right back savior again
