Sander Berge is not the right player for this team so I doubt we'll be in for him.
I do not understand this no plan B crap that the journos are coming out with.
You can't brief that a number 6 is a big priority then seemingly state that Zubimendi is the only guy in world football we could buy who would improve that position, especially after seemingly being willing to sell Endo.
Either Slot really is happy with what we've got or I hope this is some kind of smokescreen to avoid seeming desperate.
Not buying one after that brief would be criminal.
Klopp used to get a lot of stick for being too loyal and not spending even though the money was there for him to spend. Clearly the money has not been as available as it has made out to be.
He did wonders on a shoestring budget.

I said yesterday that everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but he’s exceptionally economical with the truth unfortunately.
You might have silenced Titty but I am still fighting on
That's due to him deciding early on that the owners don't buy players and despite numerous buys, some massive buys for the club, which then went on to win trophies, with a short transition considering where the club were before they bought it, he can't admit he was wrong and sticks to his stupid opinion.
It's what conspiracy theorists do.

I'm sure your mate Titty will be back to join in your conspiracy rants soon enough with the bad news coming out. Or perhaps he'll wait until VVD has a rare dip in form so he can call him Van Disney again.
how does a guy rejecting us mean we have no money and we sold carvalho because there isn't space for him really

Having a problem with selling Carvalho is just wilfully beIlendish.
It’s a great deal for everyone.

I never said its a pretend bid. I simply questioned the poor management from above considering the player history when it comes to leaving his club. The lack of due diligence is embarrassing and if this is the only option then these people need to be fired.

What did you question? The spoke to player, player expressed he wished to join. Players club told player than no bid will be accepted and he'd have to use the clause in his contract to buy himself out. Player then changed his mind.
The club can't control the mind of people. It's not poor management to identify a player, sound him out, get feedback that he's interested, pursue the deal only to find out the player has changed his mind. It happens. Our own Steven Gerrard did it once upon a time. Wanted the move but when it actually came to going through with it, he couldn't.
Criticism is acceptable but should be based on reality. I mean they could be criticised for putting all their eggs in one basket and then having no back up.
Personally I disagree with that as this method has worked for us with very few duds when it comes to transfers. Can't get your target in, wait until another one becomes available, don't just buy lesser quality for the sake of it.
However it's a valid opinion based on actual reality.
I agree TOOR, however, imo, this window has been an absolute sh!t show so far and as I wrote last night, they’ve under three weeks to not look utterly incompetent.
I have tended to agree with not just buying a player for the sake of it if our first choice isn't available, but this is now the 3rd summer in a row we've failed to buy our first choice number 6.
At this point we really should just be buying the next one down the list.

We've moved quickly in the past in similar circumstances so I'm hopeful we'll still see some activity. Zielinski went to Napoli then we quickly signed Wijnaldum.
Think even Salah was a second choice after Brandt? Jota after Werner was another. Unfortunately we had the perfect midfielder for Slot's system at the club just retire, which is fair enough given he had Weetabix legs, but I'd love to have seen Thiago under Slot.

Well as I said I find the opinion valid but still I disagree. I'd rather Bajcetic get games than bringing in an average player for millions. I still think TAA could be tried in this position in a Slot system, where he's more requiring a deep passer than a ball winner.
I mean we have other options also.
For me the main thing is to get the player right and if we can't to use the players we have. After a while of buying players you didn't really want in the first place you end up with a worse team and less money to buy players you actually want.
It does however seem strange that we haven't been able to being in what is obviously the biggest gap in the squad, in a few transfer windows. Normally we'd have somebody lined up and then announced quite quickly although I suppose having a new management team as well as a new team dealing with transfers has slowed that down.
Will be interesting to see what happens from now until.the end of the window but it has been a slow window in general. Probably needs a bit of a flurry to spark some life into it which generally comes towards the end of the window.

I'm gonna optimistically believe we do still have a plan B option at this stage so will judge once the window is shut now.
Reality now is we are highly looking at another Endo/Kabak type signing that will do a job for us rather than actually improve us.
When we not signed other players, it’s been down to the other clubs = VVD, they’ve then come later on. So I can see the justification in waiting.
This time it’s not a case of waiting till January, the players not moving and we need to move on to other targets. He’s not the only player in that position that would improve us in the world and there’s a need for us to get someone of quality for that position. It’s not a panic buy or one of substandard quality.

Do people expect the club to tell journos who our new target might be
If Endo was deemed not good enough at the weekend, then he shouldn't be suddenly be deemed good enough after the lengthy pursuit of a player ends in abject failure.
I’ve not checked but are we the only team in the football league not to sign someone?
