It’s as ridiculous as saying there is not another 6 ‘available’ in world football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably. What about if you add actual words to that statement that make it make sense? Ie "not another available 6 who is good enough to play for a team competing at the top"? A lot of people are making this sweeping statement of loads of options available but I'm yet to see any names.

I saw Ederson mentioned for ages but for me he is neither good enough and not the type of player a Slot team needs. In fact I'd rather Mac Allister play there who can actually get on the ball and play. Or Bajcetic who is good under pressure and can play a pass.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You’ve yet to see names that you agree with. I mean the fact you’d rather play the most dribbled past player in the league at 6 speaks volumes really.

‘Available’ just means cost.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No available doesn't just mean cost, I mean I literally mentioned three players above that we put big money on the table for and didn't get which had nothing to do with cost.

Yes I'd rather a player who gets dribbled past but can actually play football for a possession based team than a player who gets dribbled past less but is poor on the ball. Ideally we'd get both which appears to be what we've tried to do, with the three bids mentioned but if we can't I'd agree with the club that it's better to wait and use the players we have than go against the plan just to buy somebody.

It’s funny how many seem to think that just because we’re Liverpool we just need to click our fingers and clubs and players bow before us.

Then I guess Caicedo and other massive bids were made for unavailable players.

On the attempted transfer of Martin Zubimendi, he said: "I've said many times already that our squad is really strong and it's not so easy to find players who can help us or improve the squad.

"Zubimendi was one of them to be fair, but he decided not to come. We go forward with the ones we have. Endo did well in pre-season. We're in a good place. Richard is trying to strengthen the squad. Zubimendi decided not to come, we did every effort. If a player decides not to come then it's obvious he's not coming."

Yeah that school of thought is absolute nonsense.
—————

I’m not sure it is, especially after his public cautious comments re: the spending. I’ve never heard him talk like that before and then he quits, having never not honoured a contract.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He gave his reasons for quitting. Not exactly far fetched and something that looked legit when looking at him. The club continued to do what they also did, if they identified the right player they tried to get them, hence the massive bid for Caicedo, the £50m bid for Lavia and then the £50m bid for Zubimendi. If they feel the right player isn't available they don't just buy for the sake of it. It's been the model for years, we know the model, Klopp knew the model and it has worked. It won't change and hopefully it doesn't as we've had a squad capable of competing at the top for years and a club capable of putting in massive bids for the right players due to not wasting it just to get a player/s in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Endo and Arthur say otherwise
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How so? Arthur was brought in on loan to provide cover and ultimately it didn't work, we could have actually spent £30m+ on him and people like you would have been happy we signed somebody rather than waiting for the right player. Endo was an opportunity to get in a 30 year old to provide a cheap option for a short time as a squad player due to missing out on options and injury to Bajcetic.

This doesn't go against their plan like you think it does.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That goes against your comment:

"If they feel the right player isn't available they don't just buy for the sake of it"

We did that with Endo and Arthur.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it doesn't. Can you not read? Those two players were brought in on loan and on the cheap to provide short team squad options. Arthur went and Endo would have been sold if we got a player in as played in the summer, in his position.

Are you stupid?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Calling me stupid

You said we don't buy for the sake of it and I gave you 2 examples where we did very recently. 1 player was a disaster and the other did pretty well for us. Neither player would have been on any list of midfielders we should look at when the window opened.

So yes you're stupid. I very clearly pointed out that both were brought in at different times because we weren't buying for the sake of it but attempting to plug a gap whilst we waited for the right player on the cheap. Arthur went back after his loan. Endo would have been sold after one season but we failed with the Zubimendi bid. We're not going to buy somebody to plug a gap, when we already have that player who is plugging the gap, ie we're not going to just buy a player for the sake of it and we're not going to bring in a stop gap when we already have one.

I’m also a little confused though, because by Robbing’s metrics he was available because we met the clause. So he should be a Liverpool player now.

Not looking likely Diaz is off as some reporting.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot argues that he can strengthen the team without signing players: "If you don't strengthen the team then you become weaker? I don't understand that. You can help the player on the training ground to improve. It's not always true that the team becomes stronger if you bring in new players."

On Luis Diaz's future, following links with moves to Barcelona and Manchester City: "When I walked in there was Sky Sports News on and they spent all day talking about football. Is there any player they don't talk about? His future is with us. I like a lot what I've seen in the last 10 days he's been in, and last season too. I hope he has a big impact this season too."

Because Atalanta set up different in Seria A, with faster transitions, and more risk.

Ederson is a good player who is VASTLY better without the ball than AMA. He would improve us, we have the space in the squad and we have the money.

At 25 and having just broken into the Brazil squad has room to not only improve, but increase his value.

He is hardly on his first proper pre game press conference do a Jose or Conte and moan about lack of transfers. He said previously that he will be surprised if we didn't do any business but to ask him to question his new bosses this summer is never going to happen. He probably won't do it next summer either.

I'm not really sure what point you were trying to make and whatever it was it failed on you.

I mean I don't disagree he's better without the ball. My issue is with him on the ball in a team who have become a possession based team, rather than getting the ball forward quickly like we used to do and like how Atalanta do.
