Loving the Slot impact and next week is the big test

If we beat United at OT the Ten Hag out brigade is gonna be out in force.

After so many years of high octane, high risk high reward football, it really is a nice change of pace to have two fairly comfortable 2-0 wins so far.

We have a better rest defence with the 3-1 and 4-2 build up structure which helps us control the game. We still need a duel winner in the middle of the pitch

Yeah Klopp loved having the back 2 of Konate/Matip and Van Dijk staying back and the full backs getting forward aswell as everyone else.

Was so attacking and amazing to watch but teams would create chances against to easily. This set up already looks better atm.

We will always score goals with the quality we have, let’s do what Arsenal do in making sure they don’t concede first and staying solid and patient. Like they did yesterday against Villa. Stayed in the game and had the quality to finish them off.

We did have that with our klopp team that won the big prizes though. Our front 3 back then got all the headlines but we consistently had the best defensive record around that time too.

Its about overall control of games. We used to just run them in all areas of the pitch. We suffocated teams. That changed when fabinhos levels dropped and weve never really replaced him since. Its led to us being far more open and easy to play through in the middle of the pitch.

I appreciate from what we are hearing slot doesnt want a ball winner in the dm role. He wants the zubi type, neat and tidy on the ball etc. Sort of what grav is doing now. I dont think it will work against better sides. I think we'l still see the same issues that we saw last season where our back 4 had little protection in front of them.

Positive signs, teams clearly nowhere near its full potential playing slotball but its still looking good enough to win some tricky enough opening games under not ideal circumstances.

Absolutely right. Klopp’s best sides were fantastically balanced. 2018/19 we conceded 22 goals in the league. Title winning year if was 33 goals and tbh would probably have been far less had the league not been firmly in the bag.

I’m all for appreciating what Slot is doing right now but let’s not rewrite history. We were open at times under Klopp but he wasn’t stupidly cavalier, he built sides that were fantastic at both ends of the pitch.
