I’m not writing him off either, I’m just not sure about him being LFC’s first choice right back for a season, and that’s the conversation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, sounds fair. The obvious follow-up question is what would it take for you to be confident in him being first choice for a season?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Another year or two as a competent back up I guess, and if he forces his way into starting, then great.

At no point do I want him, and certainly Gomez, as our RB options.

Were the fourth richest club on the planet.

Trent has managed to up the pace stats in readiness for Real Madrid. He is our quickest player according to Opta but he does sit in 13th as fastest nominee per club:

I reckon he looked too bulked up last season, and looks to have slimmed a bit???

He's been working on his physique the past 2 seasons now so I'm not surprised some of his physical attributes is showing improvements.

All true. We can’t keep pleading poverty it’s a little tiresome

It's the risk adverse approach in the transfer market that's killing us imo...since 2019 we've been reactive and only show intention after the shiiit hits the fan

So the question I would like to ask is, and I ask this as a LFC fan of 40 years. If Trent does decide to go to Real Madrid, does he go down as legendary status at our club, along side players like Dalglish, Rush, Barnes ect ?

Does he even get to keep his mural at the end of Sybil rd ?

How do we all feel about this ?

If we signed a contract and went in a year or 2 for big money he’d have no negative thoughts from me. He’s costing the club by running his contract down like he is though, although the club shares a lot of blame.

Not an LFC legend like Mo, VVD etc.

Yes, I agree, he is on his way to becoming one though, is this a legacy a local boy wants to ruin ?

posted 1 hour, 43 minutes ago

Trent legacy will be trophies but it does put any chat of legend status in the bin if he leaves on a free.

posted 1 hour, 34 minutes ago

I’m not sure I would leave if I was Trent tbh. It’s not as if Real won’t still be there at 28/29.

posted 1 hour, 33 minutes ago

I look at the club first before looking at the player

How would we define legends though

Is Suarez a legend?

Nope, could have been though.

Liverpool Legends since Prem inception.

Gerrard
Carra
Fowler
Hyypia
Salah
Henderson
VVD

Honourable mentions

Agger
Alisson
Mane
Firmino
Robbo
Trent (pending)

Ali gets in for me

posted 1 hour, 24 minutes ago

Fair. I’m a bit too you fit Clemence but Ali could quite possibly be our best keeper in history really.

posted 1 hour, 23 minutes ago

You fit?? Young

posted 1 hour, 21 minutes ago

Trent has won everything though excluding the Europa

He's definitely a legend imo...maybe won't be making everyone's all time XI if he leaves on a free

He’s no Mike hooper

If Hyypia is a legend then Trent, Robbo, Firmino and Mane are definitely legends. Probably have to include Fabinho too

Met him when I was 11. Asked him for an autograph and he said “What do you want me to sign it with? My nose?”

I said “Do you do magic tricks as well then?” and to this day, I think that’s funny.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nah not for me. Hyypia was our Captain and spent ten years with the club making 465 appearances.

Legends don’t leave on a free chasing money and glory either, hence the pending. Fabinho shouldn’t be near this discussion imo, possibly Bobby but this is Liverpool. The threshold is pretty high for me.

I'm personally not sure Bradley stays as back up for another 2 seasons. Few players have that level of patience when they feel able to perform at a high level.

As a club we have a history of giving talents their platform. From the likes of Macca, Fowler, Redknapp, Gerrard, Carra, Owen, Sterling, Trent. And probably more I've forgotten.

I get the sense in saying we want to wait until they're truly ready - I think that's what City do and they're not a bad model to follow. But ultimately there's a price to pay and that's for every Foden that is prepared to wait for his chance, there's a Palmer, Sancho, Lavia, Frimpong that'll walk away.

But the real kicker is that if you're prepared to see talent you're not 100% convinced on walk away, then you need to spend appropriately to bring those 1st team ready players in. City do. Would we?

Personally I think if Trent goes, Bradley gets next season. I wouldn't have an issue with that either.
