Id be tempted personally if it means no money for him in the summer. Obviously would depend on the amount offered but as long as we got someone in to bolster the back 4

Trent is waiting for the bosman money which he will only get in the summer.

Not for me. If we’re going to win the league then Trent will have a big part to play. That outweighs whatever nominal figure RM will pay us in January.

One caveat to that is that if Trent gives the slightest hint that he wants to go in Jan, I’d let him. But I reckon it would massively impact his legacy with the fans.

Do you think he must have at least gave them the feeling he wants to go there? Obvs I agree that Liverpool are in control unless RM offer a good enough sum for him but not sure they would have made the initial offer without some encouragement?

I think this confirms he’s given them plenty of encouragement imo. Though you can never discount RM just stirring things up by themselves.

I do agree that we’ve gotten ourselves in a strong position and could possibly cope with Trent leaving, but there’s no arguing that he’s one of our biggest game changers. I’d rather keep him for the season.

fair point, RM are perhaps the worst at that, throw in a pashy offer and hope the club feel they have to take it? Fack them, if he says he wants to leave then it should be on your grounds and if keeping him wins you the title then that would be better than a poor offer ATM from them

Oh without doubt. But I’ve just not heard much that’s suggesting he’s likely to stay, just getting the feeling he’s committed to them.

All this says to me is he's definitely off in the summer and they're using an approach in Jan to say well we tried to give you a fee if you wanted one.

Yeh whilst he is important I don't feel THAT M would pay much more than 10m atm, they will be happy to wait till he's a free agent and he might be too, a title won and probs bigger wages?
