We haven't looked dangerous from set pieces at all really, 14 Vs lesta trying the arsenal set piece didn't get close once! But to me it's more down to delivery, Trent and robbo as consistently sheit failing to beat first man or whatever. Mac10 szob tsimikas are better and should prob start taking more of them?

Happy new year gents.
Bit of a shame there’s only one game today. New Year’s Day tradition always used to be a full list of premier league fixtures.
Think the break between games being longer will help us more than most teams but definitely feels like they’ve been more spaced out this festive period than they normally would.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was thinking that earlier. I know it’s not great for the players but I always looked forward to the festive program. We’d also hit a purple scoring patch, hope we don’t lose momentum….

Trent is probably the best corner taker in the league. The issue hasn't been the corners themselves but the contact in the box from.the corners. Multiple times the ball has been agonisingly close to going in, woodwork, just past the post, people with 50p heads.
This thing people have about hitting the first man isn't as bad as people think. The perfect corner is just beating the first man which gives the best opportunity at the right height for a goal. Every player can play a big cross into the box but it's extremely difficult to score from.
In general too much is made from failure to score from corners where on average it takes a team over 50 corners for a goal.

Important that we rotate as much as possible this month.

Jonathan David being out of contract out in the summer is an interesting one, would suit our profile of player.
Obviously wages we will struggle to compete with other clubs but I wonder if that’s one we look at as an opportune signing depending on what happens with Salah and Nunez this summer.
His numbers are right up there with the best in Europe. We will get a good look at him at Anfield later this month.

Not sure what youre basing that on but we all know you place an extreme bias on recency. Trent has consistently for years been one of the top assisters from corners in Europe and on a few occasions been the top assister from corners. There are very few who have a delivery as good as he does.

I mean all players put in the odd crap one but many on here include all corners that hit the first man as a crap corner when in reality not all are. It takes just beating the first man to be a perfect corner as it means it's head height for attackers where there's pace on the ball to render the goalkeeper useless if there's a good connection. Sometimes that's extremely close and since on average there are over 50 corners before a goal is scored, they are extremely difficult to score from. Arsenal have a good, bit of an illegal way of scoring from corners, which involves a lot of blocking and pushing. This doesn't mean they have a better corner taker, although both are good corner takers themselves. The amount of great corners we've squandered this season is ridiculous. Gomez in the last game was a prime example when he got on the end of a great corner and it just glanced off the defender as it was going in.

How is that predictable? I don't just look at stats like you. I look at the player tech. How he plays against pace or against a low block. Does he have more to his game than just pace. The jump from French league to PL is massive.
I've watched David a number of times and he has not impressed me. I can see flaws in his game which will get exposed in the PL. There is a reason why he has been in the French league for so long.
I'll stop there cos you probably got lost after just looking at his stats.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah David gets linked every summer to us and Arsenal but he's not that good..just a pace merchant
----------------------------------------------------------------------
11 goals in 15 league games.
4 goals in 6 Champions League games.
17 goals & 5 assists in 26 games this season.
Bit more that a pace merchant it seems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
League goals…..
24/25 P15 G11
23/24 P34 G19
22/23 P37 G24
21/22 P38 G15
20/21 P37 G13
That’s since joining Lille. Not too shabby and good fitness record.
Kash probably read someone else saying it on Twitter, so took it as gospel. He’ll be rolling out the farmers league one next…..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
36 goals and 11 assists in 2024
Pace merchant though

See, the most predictable poster on here.

Van den berg starts for Brentford. 3 points for Arsenal then.

Course you do, you’re the Liverpool DJ. Seen anyone in the Azerbaijan 3rd division that catches your eye?

And you’re predictable because I said two comments above that you’d come out with the shiite league line.
Mbappe spent ten years playing in the French league. Another pace merchant.
