Have City accepted the punishment?

posted on 16/5/14

What about PSG?

posted on 16/5/14

Yes City have accepted their punishment. I am not sure about PSG but they too have been punished for failing to comply with the rules.

Wtf is 48m to city???

Will only having 21 players really affect them?

First 11 and a 10 players as back up is still plenty surely?

----

I think it also means that City will have to limit their transfer activities.

If they comply will get €40m back.

Crucial sanctions relate to CL squad, spending, and new players.

The 21 must still include a large percentage of home grown, so some big name foreign players won't be able to play CL next season for City.

posted on 16/5/14

How an earth are they going to comply next season?

posted on 16/5/14

It will likely be paid over three years

32m is suspended so if they commit another they'll add it on.

But I don't think you can afford too many of these fines. Unless they want to have a 40m surcharge every year to run the squads they feel like.

21 players and the homegrown rule, some good players for City won't be in Europe next year

posted on 16/5/14

Fine will be by way of withholding Uefa prize money.

posted on 16/5/14

Haha good see them embarrass themselves AGAIN in the CL.

posted on 16/5/14

Is it an actual fine? I thought it would be taken from the money they would have received under current agreements?

City only used 21 players this season I think

not bad for a first punishment, well done UEFA.

posted on 16/5/14

I think they only have to pay 25% of the fine with the remaining 75% being suspended.

Fine is a total waste of time. The sheikh has a bottomless pit of money and the fine doesn't impact on next year's finances so doesn't count towards FFP anyway.

Transfer Embargo would have been best thing to do.

UEFA made these rules VERY clear a few years ago now and CIty haven't got themselves sorted quick enough. Simple as that. They have broke the rules and benefited from it and thus deserve to be punished.

CONFIRMED as expected: #mcfc have been fined €60m for FFP breaches & Champions League squad down to 21 players (13 foreign max) nxt season

So only 13 players and 8 HG allowed?

Milner
Rodwell
Lescott
Hart
Wright

Clichy (does he count for years in England?)

who else?

This is the equivalent of Sheikh Mansour's daily shopping cost with £32m of the £49m being suspended anyway. The 21 player rule may hurt them slightly however although many have already mentioned that they only played with a total of 21 this season anyway. It will be a long difficult season for them next season that's for sure especially after a world cup summer.

City will get €40m of the €60m back if they agree to comply with FFP in the future
