I like managers/players that throw a little hissy fit when they loose an important games, Most top players/managers do that. Its their will to win that makes them better than others, so its fully understandable If they are sore loosers.

Like #AnyoneButGirou said, Id rather have a manager that lose his head a bit after a defeat than a someone like Moyes who just smirk, smile and laugh

Tbf to someone he was applauding Real after each one of their goals in extra time.

He's a bit of a nut job but one who clearly believes in showing respect a bit like the mafia.

Must be so hard for Atletico to take, 2 finals, both seconds away from winning them.

Why did Varane kick a ball at him anyway?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I read elsewhere that Simeone apparently kicked the ball away when Varane went to take a throw in as the clock was running down in regulation time.

Wasn't a pretty sight, but hardly the first man to lose his rag.

What I don't see is how this rules him out when so many others have been guilty of so much more. In-game, he's all energy and constantly eggs not just the players but also the fans on, but in the press room he generally conducts himself in a dignified manner.

One of the first things he said in yday's presser was that starting Costa was his own mistake and that he took full responsibility for it. Can anyone remember Mourinho doing the same after such a crucial defeat?

He didn't whine, he didn't complain, he congratulated the winner and took it on the chin.

He then added that this morning he'd be sitting down with Caminero and the rest of the technical staff to start planning their title defence and how to come back stronger next year, sending out the message that he and Atleti intend to be here to stay.

Finally, when he was asked what marks out of 10 he'd give his team this year, he answered "9.5 - they fell half a point short". I guess that epitomises his demanding nature and that even despite their shoestring budget, he is not ready to accept anything but everything.

Quite a character.

"Why aren't City winning CL titles? They gave the highest wage bill in sport..."

We don't. We should have sued that journalist for slander, how far that opinion has now gone!

IAOG I'm a huge fan of Simeone, I admire managers that are so efficient like him.

I wasn't aware that report was untrue, so City don't have the highest wage bill per playing member?

Who does?

posted on 25/5/14

Yes his achievements with Atletico and their small budget have been exceptional, but that doesn't excuse his ridiculous conduct in a showpiece final, he lost his head and was a disgrace, it's not as if varane spat on him is it? He rolled the ball towards him from 25 yds

People need to get off their moral high horse. Yes he shouldn't have done it but he was seconds away from a historic double, the man was filled with mixed emotions.

It wasn't a disgrace, don't exaggerate, a man with passion simply got angry.

posted on 25/5/14

Of course it was a disgrace, he embarrassed himself and his club with his ridiculous OTT reaction, trying to downplay that is frankly stupid

The guy has made a huge name for himself: from the bottom up. He is animated, and this season has shown that he is tactically shrewd also.

He will have a lot of clubs after him!

Gutted they lost but made up for Ronaldo!

Sorry but he embarrassed himself... how many players of both sides had to stop him and persuade him to leave the field. Without that he may well have grabbed or even hit Varane or someone. It's not acceptable by any manager and yes SAF embarrassed himself many a time. It shouldn't rule him out int he future as he was 2 mins away from winning the CL. I wanted them to do it . Gary Neville loved their performance !!

So any time a player/manger gets angry or sent off it's a 'disgrace'?

Simeone made a mistake, he'll probably get punished by UEFA for it, stop overreacting.

Or to use your logic, anytime a team succumbs to a late goal in a major final it's okay for the manager to go chasing opposition players round the pitch

Real, I think. With us, they took the figure used for wages straight off the accounts, but we used that for Mancinis severance package (as well as his not too small entourage!). Most times, clubs would put that through as an exceptional item.

It was by no means a fair comparison essentially. This seasons accounts should show it better. It's why we were ok with te sanction from Uefa of keeping the wage bill at the same level - it was way over what it actually is anyway.

Exactly. These are the same people who would say if Maureen did that it would be disgraceful. He poked Tito in the eye, Simeone may have done worse if not stopped. He embarrassed himself that's all with his behaviour, some may say it was disgraceful. No big deal. We all make mistakes. Can he learn from it though ?

He hasn't won everywhere he's been you know, other than titles with River Plate and Estudientes he's not done very well at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's pretty unfair imo. All in all, I'd say he's had a remarkably good career to date.

Estudiantes' - in season one - claimed their first title in 23 years. River's 1st title in 4 years was again in his first season, with the club already in turmoil. He was sacked after a poor start, but that ultimately led them to finishing last for the first time in their history. There was clearly something badly wrong beyond the manager himself. That kicked off his only real bad spell, as he didn't succeed at San Lorenzo, but it was only his 3rd full year of management and everyone has a learning curve I suppose.
Onto Catania, where his charge was to stave off relegation and that much he achieved.
He went back to Racing but didn't complete the season because Atleti came knocking, so it wouldn't really be fair to judge him on a lack of achievements there.

You know the rest. I don't think you could say he hasn't done well at all.

I'm not saying it's ok, but I understand it and don't think it's a disgrace. Players and managers fight like that all the time, it's nothing new.

Melton

I see.

As you live in Spain I'll have to take your word for it.

I'm not for a second suggesting the man isn't talented, he clearly is. I just wouldn't want him as the manager of Utd.

Simeone is a superb manger. He was 2 mins from emulating the greatest managerial feat since Fergie at aberdeen. Its totally understandable lost his head a bit after what happened.

He shouldnt have acted like that but its ridicules to not to want him at united because of that. Im sure he will do great in PL , If he sign for a top PL club. Ill be more than happy to have him as the United manager if he was available after LVG
