Erm and Simeone is one of the top people in his position.

I just wouldn't want him as the manager of Utd.
--

I don't have any problem with that.

The man clearly has fantastic motivational skills - most of his current squad was already there when he took over with Atleti languishing dangerously low in the table and knocked out of the cup by a lowly 3rd division side in the cup. With that in mind, his success has been truly remarkable.

But perhaps it's now that the big questions need answering. Like Mourinho, up to now he's been an eminently short-term coach, probably because of the exceedingly high demands and mentally draining nature of his approach.

Give him a year or two more at Atleti and we might just start to see whether or not he has the longer-term staying power a club like United has traditionally demanded.

You can't have a go at Simeone after putting up with Fergie for 26 years.

He basically called Alan Wiley fat ffs.

Wait until he's done it over a sustained period like yaya has before jumping to those conclusions

He is one of the most in demand managers around. If you were looking for a manager after an appointment as painful as Moyes it's not believable that you'd say you wouldn't have him. Same as if you didn't have any good midfielders and Toure was available.

tbf he was telling the truth. I don't think he called him fat did he? I thought he insinuated he was unfit

You mean like 3 seasons at Atletico where he has won a La Liga, Kings Cup, Super Cup and Europa Cup as well as reaching the final of the CL.

He called him unfit. Something that can't really be argued with. If anyone took the time to watch games he reffed, you'd see that at every opportunity he'd slow the game down by talking to players when a foul was committed. He was just having a breather because he wasn't fit enough.

Spanish equivalent to the FA cup...beating Madrid on their home turf in the final.

FACup is 3rd in the pecking order for most big clubs nowadays, Wigan won it last season

Going a long way here Earl to try and dismiss his trophy record so far..

Not disputing that, but the big boys in Spain have taken it very seriously in recent years because it's sometimes been the only saving grace of their season. Evidence of this is the fact that the big 2 have taken 7 of the last 12 final berths, compared to just 2 of the previous 12.

Even without that, it's pretty likely you'd consider it an achievement to beat Liverpool in an FA Cup final played at Anfield...well it's more or less similar, only that Atletico's budget was 4 times smaller than their opponents'.

Simeone doesn't need to do more to prove he's a top manager. What he's done at Atletico with a limited budget and constantly losing their top players is remarkable.
