Results don't tell the full story, you know. Southampton were winning in both games, and if they held on, would've finished above us.
Bit harsh, that. We used to thrash Wigan but Martinez is one of the best managers in the league.
You can't just not appoint someone because they were beaten by a previous manager. Would Villa not replace Lambert with Mourinho if they could then?
Drew and lost to Wigan in our last two games
Bang goes that theory

maybe it's harsh but surely to have both your managers beat this supposed talented managers tell a little story....maybe just maybe he isn't that good.
While I prefer FDB I would not moan about a manger who can get us playing some good football

Or maybe he's working at a more limited club.
They were a side that had only just got relegated the season before.

Love this logic
Moyes > Wenger
Sherwood>Martinez
Lambert>Jose
Poyet >Mourinho + Pellegrini
Why is Pochetinno is a better option than FDB or even our sacked AVB?
Answer: because he got Southampton playing good football
Seems a bit weak to me.
To be fair the logic in the OP isn't much worse than Levy's.
The only logic that should matter is:
How successful have they been
Is their style of football good
How experienced are they
Saints have a decent squad also
But is that because of Poch turning them into a decent squad?
We've got a decent squad too, good enough to beat them with a youth team coach in charge
loavirgo
you're clearly on the wum and dont understand football
are you saying simeone, martinez, klopp etc didn't deserve their respective jobs because they managed small teams previously
No the chairmen of liverpool, everton, athletico and dortmund seen something special in the way these men organised their team and got the best out of what they had.
We're not in the champions league so we're not going to get an established manager who's been succesful at big clubs unless his stock has went down to reccent failure and for me its riskier appointing a manager with reccent failiure than a manager with a little experience but has success.
Pochettino has turned saints from relegation strugglers to a comfortable 8th. The improvements shaw , lallana and rodriquez have made under him are immense. If paulinho, eriksen, lamela and soldado can make similiar improvements the future is bright.
If we get him we'll be an exciting team.
my only worry is it could take a seaon to implement his style in the same way it took rogers a season. My worry is whether levy will be patient enough
stupendous logic that
paul lambert managed a team that beat a team managed by jose mourinho last season, so he has to be the better manager.
btw OP, Pocc's southampton beat liverpool last season, whereas liverpool spanked both sherwoods team and avb's team.
the logic of spurs fans never fails to astound me. no wonder this club never gets anywhere. guy hasn't even got the job and the knives already out.
faaack this.
