England just got owned in their own front in every format by Sri-Lanka. Now every Proper Test nation has won Test Series in England. Only Bangladesh and Zimabwe remain to record series win in England.
In that regard, Australia(beaten only by 3 nation) and South Africa(also only beaten by 3 nation) are the 2 most precious place to win Test series now.

Sanga is a very well spoken man. Oozes class.

Cracking effort today. There have been a lot of positives. The new boys got tons, Plunkett was excellent.

If the senior boys step up then I reckon we'll beat India.

Sanga is probably the classiest man in the world.

Well done Sri-lanka

As for England.. England wont beat India with Cook in charge.. He'll continue to make the wrong calls.
Moores so far..since his return 2 tournaments lost both. That will continue aswell..

I hope they go back to stokes for the india series.. They wont they will probably stick with the same 11.. Ben stokes was the only positive in Aus.. And hes bowling well. but that doesn't mean much to the selectors.

Fair to say Moeen has cemented his place for the India series... Deserves to bat higher up the order.

Cook needs to bat against the Indians like the last 2 series, that means relinquishing the captaincy.

Cook gave a great interview post match. He's a determined guy and will get things right.

Who would replace him? Bell's the only realistic option, and he hardly instills confidence.

Cook has been a scapegoat.

"he will get it right"

You mean he show some passion he will declare half an hour earlier the evening before? he wont bowl Anderson into the ground? he wont save plunkett for the 18th over. after he was the best bowler in the first innings of the test.
His decision making is not good enough

spot on pal, at the start of the series our batting line up looked fragile and needing the experienced players in cook, bell and prior to turn up. well as it turns out in 2 tests Robson, Ballance & Moeen all got tons and root got an unbeaten double ton - these are positives as is the form of Plunkett in this match.

we need to accept we are a side on the rebuild, but we do need a different captain at the helm.

to balance the team up we need to bring in stokes and a spinner (kerrigan, riley, rafiq), so the choices have to be stokes for cook or bell (ie. cook!) and spinner for jordan or plunkett (ie. jordan)... with jordan bought in when anderson needs a rest.

Wow - What a Test Match & what a Test Series!!
Drama from the very first ball of the Test series to the very last over of a Test Series.

This is why i (& many others) love Test cricket & why it is the best form of the game ever.

Congratulations to Sri Lanka on a a remarkable & historic triumph.
Incredible achievement to win a T20 & ODI & Test series vs England in England's backyard!!!
Angelo Mathews - What a player & leader he is (Take note Cook)

What a delivery by Eranga - under so much pressure.
Feel sorry for Moeen Ali who played brilliantly & congratulations on his maiden Test Century. What great temperament he showed not just for himself but for the team & the cause. Great show of defiance & also feel for Jimmy at the end.

Goodbye to Sangakarra & M Jayawardene - 2 great legends who i doubt will tour England again.

Well people will now look into the diagnosis of this embarrassing test defeat for England but every credit must go to Sri Lanka - what a great fightback from these Lions from a very tiny island!

Yesterday was very dark day for England cricket but today they can hold their heads high because they went down fighting & not like a wimp.

Personally i think Cook will stay n as Captain.
The series vs India is his last chance (saloon)
I have no doubt he will come good.

It is probably written in the script, however i feel Cook would love to sacrifice one of those 5 test matches vs India for 1 more vs Sri Lanka.

The real winners today were infact Pakistan..... England's defeat means Pakistan are now ranked 3rd in tests behind Aussies and Saffers.... An extraordinary achievement for a team that doesn't play at "home"....

Unbeaten in the UAE, bring on the Aussies after the Lanka tour next month...

pathetic fans. cook is the best English player in history yet you want him dropped for some poor form and go in with a team of rookies.

use your brain.

Not playing at home has benefitted Pakistan.
No home fans to pile on additional pressure.

Do you really think playing in the UAE is a negative?

Need to produce quick wickets to help Plunkett and Stokes. But wont happen either. be flatter than a man landing on the ground after falling from an aeroplane.

Not sure that's the case... But you'd think
England and India should be completely and utterly embarrassed at the fact that they sit below Pakistan... Despite our sensational test results of late, the resources, infrastructure, income, time and energy ecb and BCCI spent are mammoth compared to the disasters of the PCB of late.....

England, I reckon your teams looks about right.

However, I'd want a spinner, I guess I'd put him in for Stokes.

posted on 24/6/14

In reply to Afridi, not playing at home is clearly not an advantage, I agree with you there. However, I'm not sure how much of an achievement getting to 3 really is.

Duncan,

For teams such as India, eng and Aussies, 3rd probably isn't an acheivement... But for a team with no home games, no funds, no systems, no controls, no policies, no procedures, no direction and the most useless board ever seen in cricket history- put into context 3rd is a massive achievement.
