Do you guys actually have scouts or do you just throw money at whoever had a good season?

Always a gamble to spend big on a striker from abroad, but no reason it can't work out.
Interesting times.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely, fingers crossed.
Good bad or indifferent you can never know how a player will settle at a club or fit into a team.
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! Finally a talented striker with Hazard's quality and hopefully Fabregas as replacement of Lampard with Matic makes Chelsea massive contenders for UEFA Champions League and English Premier League already!
So pleased this is happening. Going to be awesome next season.

You mean the guy who had the most assists in Europe over the previous 3/4 seasons?
Costa a decent signing btw
Had my doubts about him until I saw him play a few times. He is pretty close to Drogba in the way he plays, will be an excellent focal point for our AM's. I see this as a very similar signing to the signing of Drogba, when we spent big on players who have had excellent careers up until we bought them (Sheva, Torres, Crespo (less so for him)) it has ended miserably. So the comments about lack of football knowledge and throwing money at a one season wonder is laughable, as Drogba was probably that, our most successful striker ever.
Chelsea could sign Ronaldo and rival fans would still find something to pick at

No need to make things up
Most people thought Shevchenko would be sensational and we know how that turned out.
I was petrified when Torres got signed cos i thought he would take Chelsea to another level, how wrong was i
Costa is a very good player, but not exactly an Aguero, Suarez, Falcao, or Zlatan is he?
That is good innit, expectations are much lower which doesn't heap the pressure on him.
Many of us were sceptical about both Shevchenko and Torres signing.
I personally don't have those concerns in signing Costa. He will fit our system well and that is why we're signing him.
Even when he's not scoring goals he works very hard for the team and will help create space for our attacking midfielders.
Costa up front with Hazard playing just behind him.
Opposition fans already worried. You better run boy!

Another baseless myth that uneducated sheep with no unique opinions fall for.

Replace Costa with Drogba and those 4 with Henry, RVN, Original Ronaldo and Rooney, you would have probably said the same circa 2004. Look how that turned out.

Rival fans are so desperately bitter about Chelsea especially Jose that any form off basic logic goes out off the window.
Some of the rubbish i read about Jose on this forum is mindboggling.

I hope not. I just don't want him. Wish Wenger would buy him. Why aren't the gooners pressurising Wenger to get him. Doesn't anyone want him for god sake. Lampard has 16 suitors if the press are to be believed
Don't want costa or fabregas.
To think the face of Chelsea going from Shevchenko and Torres to Diego Costa. Abramovich really must be bored with his poster children philosophy
Still worried about this signing, hard not to be when spending 30mil+ on a guy that still rightfully falls into the category of "one/two season wonder". Admittedly haven't seen him play much, when I have hasn't really stood out, but he does have this tenacious nature about his game that endears him to fans - however he plays he'll have his fan boys I'm certain of that - and the signing in general does resemble are signing of Drogba (25 y/o one season wonder with an unconventional style and dogmatic pitch mentality). Even the fee if you factor in inflation is around about the same.
I dunno. Think if we sign a striker we need to be absolutely certain of his value and just pay it.
I'd actually feel more comfortable spending 30mil on getting Sturridge back. That's how uncomfortable I am with Diego Costa.
