Cissokho scored on a wet windy night at Stoke
............
I can fully understand why that would stick in your memory.
Cesc and Schweinsteiger would be a great combo ....
.........................
Cesc, schweinsteiger, mata, Rooney/RVP
Probably the most static core of a football team I've ever seen

The system at barca didnt quite suit him I agree
............
And that is my point.
It doesn't matter how great an individual player you are. If you don't fit into a system then it usually doesn't work out for you.
Kagawa is a classic example of this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
System at arsenal suited him yes? based on how LVG operated at bayern, Id make another guess that the system LVG will likely use will be similar to that of Arsenal than that of barca or united. If we continue your line of thinking we wont be able to sign anyone anyway.
in any case, I think cesc is good enough to excel in any system, his stats at barca suggests that( better than that of xavi, iniesta or sanches)
If Fergie hadn't messed Pogba around we wouldn't have people moaning about missing on a player like Fabregas.
I honestly think cesc is THE most overrated player on the planet, I remember him being decent at arsenal, I mean cazorla decent, certainly not a world beater, because he was young his hype went a bit silly
Combo like Cesc and Schweinsteiger looks great on paper but they rarely work in reality, bit like Gerrard/ lampard duo. Cesc and Schweinsteiger both good at getting forward and getting into opposition box or final third. this leaves the midfield open for counter. for that kind of combo to work one of the two have to compromise his attacking instincts. Its more practical to pair one of Cesc and Schweinsteiger to a less glamorous CM partner imo
That's why Carrick is vital.
He is the one CM who compliments most of his CM partners

I had a similar one. Old Trafford November 1998 against Brondby;
A Phil Neville goal.

Pogba might be a prized pillock but when i see what he is capable of allied with his immense potential; it really sticks in one's craw, we let this chap leave.
I don't care what anyone says, we really mismanaged the situation.

carrick lacks a bit of steel to be a proper DM imo
based on how LVG operated at bayern,
...........
Stop basing things on how he played at Bayern.
Thank you.

He isn't a DM, under any stretch of imagination, and should not be played there.
We got away with it far to long.

He isn't overrated at all, the last couple seasons at Arsenal he was a brilliant player and easily one of the best in our league.
He decided to go back home with the hope of being able to replace either Xavi or Iniesta, it didn't quite work and Barca were also inadequate in the forward wide roles so he played there and ended up providing the most assists of any player in La Liga in the past 2 years. It's not his best role so we have not been able to see Fabregas play where he works best.
He is definitely not overrated.
He's definitely overhyped, I'm not saying he's rubbish, just not in say David Silva's class, and that's how some people rate him, not me though.
TRC, I agree. Just putting the cat among the pigeons.
Surely barca must be lining up to buy koke as a top class central midfielder. I don't understand why you would let both thiago and now possibly fabregas go and you gave xavi is near the end of his career and not replace him whatsoever
To say Fabregas is overrated is just silly and goes against every parameter used to assess a player's ability and performance on the pitch.
Granted, he has had upheavals at Barca (unsurprising, as the likes of DTKF and i called it before he went there); Fabregas is a bonafide world class talent.
Not as silky as the likes of Silva etc but more productive on the pitch.
Should we sign him? I vote yes. But if LVG doesn't have him in his plans, well we just have to trust our manager.

Why do people think a DM has to be all action, 100mph?
SAF himself said he bought a DM.

How is it silly to say he's overrated?
It depends how highly people in general rate him, and for some reason a lot of people have him down as some kind of midfield Svengali, he's decent yes but not in that elite bracket of silva, xavi, scholes, pirlo.
How do people know that we haven't approached Fabregas and he just wasn't interested?
Not beyond the realms of possibility seeing as he didn't want to come to us when we were champions.
