Been Very Impressed So Far

We've spent 12 or 13 mil on a 32 year old striker and a midfielder most of us had never heard of, much less seen play. 25 mil for Lallana? That's going to be a hell of a gamble. Am I the only one not entirely overjoyed? I mean its not quite the same as signing, say Fabregas and Costa is it?

Do we need Costa?

People have always been saying that FSG are too stingey & will not give the necessary financial backing, and I am glad to see those people proved wrong.

You may well spend big on a top drawer player but buying an ageing centre forward and a young German lad with potential for little money is hardly proving people wrong is it?

True, but I think of it like this - no one knew much about Coutinho, he is now a quality player. Sturridge had major question marks - he is arguably one of the best strikers in the league now. Mignolet proved to be good.

IMO the majority of people BR goes after are people he knows full well will add to the team. It is the first time I have ever had confidence in the management to bring in the right players, and so I trust their judgement.

We also can't compete on the financial front for Costa & Fabregas. Two players for £65M, both with wages of £150,000+. Chelsea can afford to splash like that whereas we need to reinvest it more shrewdly.

Who says we aren't selling anyone?

Fully expect a few departures, though not Suarez

I think the jury is still out on Mignolet. He had an ok season nothing more. .

We don't have a rich Russian or Shiek who don't care about FFP.

We can't spend ridiculous money yet as we don't make as much. Salaries will be high on those two and they will comand £30m+ fees. We need a few players not 1 or 2 like City and Chelsea so we need to spread our budget.

There will also be a stumbling block on some of our intended targets as they may be at the world cup and their country may not let them have transfer discussions as it will distract the players.

It is going to be a long summer plus we don;t get held to ransom any more which i like a lot.

Personally I quite like the idea of my club signing the smaller names and developing them. While it's nice to have a lot of big stars in your club I can't help but feel this way is much more satisfying, albeit perhaps less success.

I think Mignolet is a fantastic shot stopper but lacks good judgement and decision making when the ball comes high into the box. I think this can be trained into him. He wasn't helped by quite an unsettled defence all season. We need to decide on the back 5 and work on this pre season.

Yes I understand this. But understanding our limitations doesn't increase the excitement in our transfers.we need to strengthen. Have we done that? Who knows. Maybe. I just don't see the need to get all excited over players such as lambert and can and assume that we won't be selling players.

Scouse.

Yeah, I think the that our defence was pretty ropey last season reflected badly on Mig. As far as I remember he only made 1 or 2 clangers.

We can only judge the success of the transfer window on 1st Sept. The fact we're getting business done early is very promising though.

Many of our best ever players weren't household names when we signed them.

I think it would be hard to find anyone that only gets excited by this.

That's two comments in a row where you've plucked fictional scenarios out of the air to call imaginary people mental.

I agree we need to buy players who are better than the existing ones but we also need a couple of squad players. Last season we spent £7m on Aspas which was a gamble. This season we are replacing him (hopefully) with Lambert who is a proven goalscorer and knows the league and has performed well in the league.

I don't feel we are in the same position as we were under Rafa when we finished 2nd. I said at that point we only needed 2 world class stars to strenghten the squad cicra £20m each but our owners then decided to sell the morons. FSG are being more careful and hopefully we will get 1-2 world class players before the window shuts.

In bringing in lambert yes we've strengthened, we had aspas last season but next season we'll have a different dimension to come on if plan a isn't working.

In Can we've got a player that A, his team didn't want to lose. B, the team that sold him (Bayern Munich) want him to stay where he was so they could buy him back in 2015. Will he be an improvement on the injury ravaged Lucas? We'll see but he looks promising.

At left back last season we had a 21 year old rightback that performed very well and a loan player that looked like he'd struggle to get a game in the championship.

We are close to bringing in a young player with potential that at 21 has played 3 times for Spain and won the UEFA cup last season.

If it's the excitement of signing big names for £40m you want then you're not getting it here!
