"I'll back him, he can't do too much wrong this year."
So its impossible for Celtic to have a terrible season with a guy only proven in Norway, looking to completely overhaul the team to suit his playing style and philosohpy, in charge??
Aye, nae tother
Like the optimistic thinking from some 'Tic fans here....many saeeing this as a no win situation.
The guy could prove to be a complete flop worse than Mowbray but, its not impossible
I think the 12 month rolling contract is insurance incase he has a mare.
If he's a man of his word he won't jump ship straight away.. He said he wants to build something with us and I'm sure he will
Ive thought about the 12 month contract but being honest if a manager decides hes off there is fack all we can do about it
Precisely what I was thinking Juke re his contract
The 12 month rolling contract is what Lennon was on as well, although Lennon would have been on better terms. If he does well, he'll get better terms as well.
"To be honest, I'm not excited about the signing"
On your own there. I'm delighted they've done a bit of 'blue sky thinking' on the appointment and got (if we believe what we read) a top class young manager/coach from outside the UK who will have fresh ideas to rejuvenate the squad.
Reading Broonie post earlier, that's what he's thinking as well.
With no European results to his name, that's what he's going to be judged on this season.
Pass marks: Europa League Group
Graduate with Honours: Champions League Group Stage
Just my opinion, but I think he must be judged on domestic affairs aswell izzy.
Are you telling me he is going to be given a free ride domestically because this season he will be building his legacy???
Although some Tic fans are saying it the now, the novelty will wear off and if he is doing as badly as Lennon did in the cups last season, period of transition or not and possible lacklustre stuff in the league while the changes are implemented.....they wont be all that happy
It protects both the club and the manager I guess, he may come in and not like the job for soem reason so he can go at the end of the season.
Celtic might not like him and if he was to be fired the compensation would be quite low.
Or he coudl be a huge success and then sign a longer deal next summer?
It's clever IMO to do it like that no one will end up gettign burned badly shoudl it not work out for whatever reason.
I think we'll see more of these types of contracts now after the Davie Moyes nonsense
I'm so pleased with this. Was dreading the usual suspects being lined up. Totally chuffed and will be getting a season book now for the first time in about 5 years !
did you hear any figures comp for Moyes Lauders ?
Can't remember exactly but he lost out a lot cause of a.champs.league.clause (top.4)
There was an article that showed how much he had earned and what that equated to per.game.
Shocking figures
ahd love to be keech at ma job and get paid a wad to beat it
Defo a fresh perspective for Celtic.
How is his second name pronounced, is it dial-a?
As dial-a number of candidates but had to settle for fourth choice...
S3vie
Not dismissing the domestic stuff but let's face it, it should be a fvcking skoosh. Only serious domestic opposition is the New Firm.
We're all feeling really positive at the minute but roll the clock forward 7-8 weeks to the end of the CL/EL qualifiers. If we have no European football, it's going to be a big let down with fvck all to look forward to during the season.

No club has the divine right to win all their games and with it being the Cup, anything can happen..i wasnt passed off that Celtic lost their cup games, thats cup football, that's life. It seems the new bears are more worried about our domestic cup(s) runs that we are tbh.
I'd forgotton about the Murrayfield factor
If we get to the 3rd qualifying game, will that be Murrayfield as well or "can we have our pitch back please"

Brave move by Celtic, they got a guy who was lined up to take over from mjallby as a number two and got him as a number one on the same wages <erm,>

Feck, we now have the 'Edmiston' accountants on our case now..you could nae make this up...away and protest at yer Circus ya clown.
Lennys cup record was poor, but no one who matters cared.

Fairly sure those Celtic fans who forked out thier hard earned cared....
Player and team development matter more.
