Jesus, now I know you're talking bolllocks!
The company I work for has changed owners/corporate structure 3 times in my time (> 20 years) and 4 times in total. Including an insolvency event.
I've still got my service in total.
The wee added bonus is that any half wit Tims in my workplace can't use the new club argument as they have experienced it first hand in our place.
Gawd, it really grinds thier gears
Dundee Utd will 100% lose this one.

Rangers will win this case, but of course Thompson is trying to get him cheaper. I can't blame him for trying. This case is more than about TUPE. Sevco bought the history business and assets of the old owning co. It's whether Telfer signed a new contract after TUPE. It's the company structure. It's whether Telfer is an asset or an employee or both.
This will settle it once and for all..

Oh aye. But Rangers ARE a new club and you can't tell me otherwise you bad timmy you!
Can Rangers afford the legal costs if this goes to court?
I am not sure Rangers will win. Thompson is a miserable bástard, he would not have sanctioned this signing if it could cost him £200,000- as that's a lot of money for them to be spending on an unproven teenager. However, Castle is correct to point out what it depends on.
CD Málaga had a reserve club, founded on 25 May 1948 when CD Málaga took over a junior club, CD Santo Tomás, with the purpose of establishing a reserve team. The club was renamed Club Atlético Malagueño, reviving the name of one of the two clubs that had merged to form CD Málaga in 1933.
During the 1959–60 season, CA Malagueño and CD Málaga found themselves together in the third level. As a reserve team, the former should have been relegated. To avoid this, they separated from their parent club and registered as an independent club with the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
In 1992, when CD Málaga dissolved after financial difficulties, CA Malagueño continued playing. The 1992–93 season saw them playing in Tercera División Group 9. After a successful campaign, the club was promoted to Segunda División B. The following season, however, the club was relegated again and, facing financial difficulties, were in danger of folding. On 19 December 1993, in a referendum, the club's members voted in favour of changing names and, on 29 June 1994, CA Malagueño changed their name to Málaga Club de Fútbol S.A.D., becoming an official successor[citation needed] to what was previously called Club Deportivo Málaga.

You cant buy history, although your old club died trying to emulate Celtic's intact history.

Now we're getting history lessons on crappy wee Spanish football teams
Rangers will back down on this as they can't afford to have ruling go against them.
There is precedents to use to vindicate your argument, but Spanish Football is entirely separate and a lot of what goes on there is very complex and indeed unfair.
Glasgow celtic or pacific shelf Celtic
Thompson is only pointing out the legal position.
