My flag of St George will be run up the pole tonight and will stay there until, as always, the lads let me down. When I've done that, I will almost be in World Cup mode but not quite.

I only get into full World Cup mode when I see the first Rams flag at an England game.

Wont watch any of it. No Derby players there so no interest. Lost interest in the England team when I felt I no longer wanted them to represent me. Do I want to identify with the likes of John Terry or Wayne Rooney?

I think the spectacle around most Brazilians not wanting the World Cup there, unfinished stadiums, poor quality pitches, Sepp Blatter will be more interesting than the football.

It all starts tonight and for a life-long football fan I really dunno why I'm not that interested.

I agree the sub plot is more interesting, the fever has got me, but it's more from an overall interest in football than a passion for England.

I hope we do well but kinda like Spart said I find it hard to identify with this England team, it's not their fault but there's nothing in their game that gives me any pride as an Englishman. No homegrown style or philosophy and body language that seems to say I'm playing out of duty not passion.

Still wish em all the best and hope they prove me wrong, also hope this is the beginning of the end of FIFA and can we get a decent anthem too whilst we're at it

Grumpy old man!

Who'd a thunk it.

Whatever you say about the money in football and FIFA corruption, this is still the pinacle of any footballers ambition. It's not like tennis at the Olympics. These are the best teams in the world coming together to play for a trophy that really means something to them and their fans. England is a fantastic place to be if we do well.

I took it that you were planning a xenophobic fetish attack on some unsuspecting member of the Polish community too, Peeder.

Disgusted there are other ways to prove your love for a country.

You could always show how patriotic an English man you are by singing a song about how a Jewish deity should save the descendants of a bunch of Germans or a song about how we can build an Israely city in England.

I'm still not feeling it yet, but the missus is getting the car flags out and my England Pennant is going up. I'm sure it'll kick in before saturday but I struggle to see how we're going to do well.

Cheers 2W i've been trying to figure out for ages what's been missing watching Internationals and it is the body language.

Cmon Iran

Lambert should start instead of rooney tbf

Maybe this will be the world cup where Rooney shows us how much he's worth.

Give him the first half on sat and see how he does, if he's not doing it sub him off and see if that gives him a kick up the rear

posted on 12/6/14

If he once steps foot in his own half then he'd be off. I am sick of see him on the edge of our box.

I think Rooney may well be better off on the left wing, like last Saturday. At least there he can pick the ball up in space and try to get others involved. I would have Sterling off Sturridge so at least we have players getting in behind the striker.

posted on 12/6/14

I think Rooney would be better off shutting his fat gob instead of crying in the papers because Paul Scholes doesn't think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Besides that I am looking forward to the tournament since it will put an end to those interminable "top 10 world cup moment"/"greatest world cup 11" lists that have been doing the rounds in the absence of any proper football to talk about.
