Normally I put bad decisions down to human error, ref's get a very hard time doing an almost impossible job.
But last night, something was up.
Half of Brazil protesting and threatening to ruin the world cup, all day people were saying 'they just need a win to get the nation onside, then all the trouble will stop'.
That ref was leaned on by someone to make sure they got a result and that would calm everyone down, I am sure of it.

The only thing which makes me doubt this is that the ref is not exactly someone I would think would be easily bribed. He has been around a while and is Japanese, hardly a hotbed of corruption.
When fifa wanted to make money and promote football in asia they fixed the games in 2002 to make south korea progress. For this job though, they choose people like Byron Moreno. Wiki him if you like. He is clearly a corrupt fifa guy who was bought in to do a job.
I think if fifa wanted to fix this match (which they did - fifa are corrupt from the top to the bottom) then surely they wouldnt pick a japanese ref....but instead would of picked someone up who they know is more corruptable.
But nothing will really change until blatter goes and someone straight as can be comes in to lead fifa. Will that happen? I doubt it. They are a non-profit organisation with billions in the bank haha

Agreed, I was watching his off the ball movement in the re-run of the game. It's appalling and lazy. yes he may get goals but thats because he's only concerned about being in the box. This means you need a 3-man midfield and in effect give him a free role or you play 4-5-1 and he's the second striker.

Spot on, he's very much a luxury in the Brazil team

I've seen teams lose the first match but still go on to win the WC, can't recall which so Croatia can still go through but with added pressure.
