It's stupid how people let club rivalries affect their judgement. I honestly feel fans want their club rival players to fail.

The genius for the goal came from Sterling's pass, Rooney's cross was a relatively simple one. Would hardly call it a 'moment of genius'. He was also lazy tracking back.

Disagree with the criticism of Gerrard and I'm not his biggest fan. He played some excellent long passes while he and Henderson held the midfield well.

Gerrard wasn't outstanding, but he was solid. He didn't misplace any passes that i can think of. He was quiet, but to say he was awful is blatant bias.

My frustration is with the continued obsession of selecting Rooney even if he's out if position at the expense of players better suited to playing on the left like Lallana.

You can't drop Sturridge up front or Sterling behind him or Welbeck on the right but Lallana over Rooney on the left every time for me.

Henderson was our only decent centre mid. I thought Gerrard offered nothing but he didn't contribute quite as negatively as Rooney who kept breaking down attacks and missing gilt edged chances.

Offers more than gerrard who doesn't do nothing bar lose the ball with Hollywood passes for eng, you could get anybody to sit in front of the defence and do nothing, at least hendo drives and attempts to create, needs another like him alongside

Fergie had a point about Gerrard. He went too far but he was sort of right.

Gerrard might have scored some worldies in his day but he's never had control of a football game like Xavi, Scholes, Pirlo, Zidane ever did.

Not in the very top bracket of cm's for me and never has been. Still been a very good player though.

United kaz

Gerrard should play where he plays for us - right in the centre of the park with two midfielders in front of him. Barkley and Hendo for example.

Gerrard got 90%+ pass completion..

posted on 15/6/14

Well I think he should be on the bench as an impact sub but each to their own.

Gerrard is a diff player for eng than he is for Liverpool, like Rooney at utd, both are played horribly out of position and you could get any player slotting into their positions for eng, that was my point, whilshere would be better sitting deeper than gerrard as he can carry the ball better,

John obi mikel normally gets 95% or above. Doesn't make him a world beater.

Gerrard was poor tonight and MANY people are agreeing with that. He just doesn't control games like Pirlo does.

"He had one moment of magic"

H crossed a ball, hardly a moment of magic. It was just a cross, I'd say Sterling rolling Pirlo before playing a defence splitting pass for Rooney to run onto was more of a "moment of magic".

Then he missed a sitter too.

Gerrard was poor I agree, even though Hodgson for he did well.

He looked like the knackered 34 year old in the heat of Brazil I expected him to.

Many mancs are agreeing with that.

The point was Gerrard was supposedly giving away posession with Hollywood balls. Stats proved that's pash. Then the goalposts get moved to still say hes bad.
