The one thing for sure is that Suarez World Cup is over
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I fear you are wrong. I really think FIFA are toothless (excuse the pun)!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think he won't get at least a 3 game ban?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I fear they will just fudge it and find some sort of excuse. He should actually be banned for at least 12 international matches as the punishment must be more severe each time. When it will stop is when someone kicks the shít out of Suarez on the football pitch.

The most annoying thing is it is now distracting for what so far has been an absolutely fabulous tournament and for me the best I've ever seen. (Bar England if course). Get rid of the horrible little runt from the tournament and forget about him.

Can't see it mate. Even seeing what the FIFA Vice President had to say he has to get a fairly lengthy ban IMO and I think will give him just that.
I don't think he will get a club ban just an international ban

posted on 25/6/14

How can you even let him remain on the field of play now when his team are losing?

posted on 25/6/14

I think the UK Government would be right to deport him. He simply can't be allowed to continue to bring football - the National sport and English creation - into disrepute here in the mother nation.

I can't say I agree with people who are suggesting he should get a 2 year ban, or anything like that.

Realistically, I think he should miss the rest of the World Cup and pay a hefty fine (with the money going anywhere other than FIFA officials' back pockets).

Clearly Suarez is pretty feral, hence all the biting, and it's something that shouldn't happen on a school playground, never mind at a world cup. At the same time, a lot of people are taking a holier-than-thou attitude towards the situation and acting as if it's the worst thing ever to happen on a football pitch, which is stupid.

I assume that Liverpool fans are pretty disgruntled at some of the calls for a punishment that is disproportionate to the offence, as well as the backlash they are collectively getting from other fans for what one of their players has done.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This would be a perfectly reasonable comment if this was his first offence but last time he was banned for 10 games and the ban clearly did not bring about the desired effect.

I would increase the ban personally (And I hate footballers being banned too) and then suspend a further sentence that increases it to the maximum

Then move on

Suarez knew what he had done. He didn't celebrate going through like he would normally and even then, he did not admit to it after the game and issue an immediate apology, claiming that the Italian bumped into him which is a ridiculous claim. We have all seen the pictures

posted on 25/6/14

The attempts by some of the 'self proclaimed best fans in the world' to defend Suarez is staggering beyond belief.

--------------

It should be easy for you to provide some quotes to back this claim up.

If you can't, you've just been caught out lying.

I'd have any goals he has scored in the tourny so far removed. Seems a reasonable punishment

Bit harsh Macca. You can't punish the England fans having to watch us against Colombia because of Suarez actions

Thing is, kids see Suarez do it and imitate it! I've actually seen young kids diving in football matches on a saturday morning and it's only a matter of time before one kid bites another because he wants to emulate his favourite player. Kids are so impressionable and that it just another reason why Suarez should be banned. To do that in front of the hundreds of millions of people watching the WC worldwide is abhorrent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I explained to my kids from a young age that profesional footballers are not role models.

I'm their role model

It did backfire initially I must admit when my 6 year old got bladdered and ordered a kebab

Would love it if Andy Murray jumped over the net and bit his opponent today.

That doesn't really wash with me. If you don't want kids seeing certain things, they shouldn't watch football. Cheating, spitting, pushing, diving swearing etc etc.
-------------------------

Stop children watching football or cut those things out the game....

You could cut 90% of "Cheating, spitting, pushing, diving swearing" out of the game by banning Suarez for life. (Disclaimer: this comment was made tongue in cheek and should not be taken as anything other than the humour with which it was intended.)

One of my young nephews is a manchester United fan.

Imagine my family's disgust when after reading about Giggs' family shenanigans, he attempted to dry hump my Sister in-law's leg like a kinky canine.

Footballers have a lot to answer for. For God's sake protect the children.

Paisley

As disgusting as that is, he didn't give her one on the OT pitch in front of 75000 fans, nor at a WC infront of millions on TV

Foorballers private lives are just that. Private

Poor guy. All he wants to do is racially abuse and bite people but the media give him such a hard time.

posted on 25/6/14

With the kids imitating thing, at least if they dive, they aren't going to hurt anyone though. That and cheating are poor sportsmanship which clearly aren't good (and to those that think children don't imitate it, eatch some under 8s and under 10s football, some do). It's a bit different to biting people though.

I personally struggle to see how anything other than a long ban can be condoned, considering it is the third occasion of such a bizarre offense.

I keep seeing this and I still don't get it

The British media have done nothing but heap praise on Suarez this season. He's won individual honours too.

Are the media supposed to sweep him biting an opponent for a third time under the carpet?

He has nobody else to blame but himself

If Rooney had bitten an opponent, he'dd be getting the same chit and Hodgson would not be defending it
