I've seen very little of him, but what I've seen, I've been impressed with. If it's a case of paying that money for him, and improving our weakest positions, or giving it to HMR&C, then it's a no-brainer.

Really? he didn't even impress me when Southampton won 0-1 at anfield, sturridge should have had a penalty when lovren took him out and he was rash all game and rarely won the duels conceding plenty of fks which we cant defend.
Lovren is a quality player, all those suggesting he is crap who would you rather us sign instead? Very few centre backs available that have the quality to play for us
i also was not that impressed with lovren when Southampton come to white lane, soldado caused him all kind of problems and he shaky, in all fairness to him i remember he was 50/50 for the game so maybe was not fully fit, didn't look to great at the world cup either, defo think hes a touch overrated

whats with this lovern stuff. We have too many defenders we need to sell before we buy. Get rid of srtkel,Coates, give Illori this chance next season.

I don't get the pure hatred on our board for Martin he's been our best defender for the last 2 or 3 years.

He can't dribble out of defence, doing tricks and hitting thunderbolts.
I agree we need another central defender giving us 5 centre backs in Toure, Sakho, Skrtel, Agger and A N Other but I really don't see the need to sell Skrtel.
Coates needs to go on loan and I'd support the same for Ilori in the premier league.
If we sign Lovren I think he'd be an ideal partner for Sakho and then we just need a new left back (and right back in my opinion).
Moreno seems to have gone very cold but as we're about to be given £75.5m I think we should just give Sevilla what they want for him if Brendan thinks he's the right player.

Another southampton player though? I'm pretty sure a lot of you had higher hopes than that once you got back into top 4. Especially after nearly winning you first PL title.
I'm sure once Suarez goes, you'll buy somebody to replace him too, but I'd be a little worried if I were a scouser at the moment.

I suspect Lovren is a bit better than people may think. Same with Lallana who will suit us perfectly. It's going to be a season of transition but as long as we keep playing good football I'm happy enough and I feel some fans overlook the youth of our overall squad and the ability to keep improving.
We need Sakho to be the player we think he can be so hopefully with his first season under his belt he will form part of a formidable defence and if we get that then we'll be in business.
