I think you guys are under rating Sanchez, be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. Just look at the impacts each player had when they were playing for the same team. Add to the fact that we already have the best number ten in the world (Cesc doesn't play deep anymore) and we desperately needed more goals and pace then this signing is a no brainer and infinitely more useful than re signing cesc

I think Alexis will hit suarez/aguero type levels. He will also boost the ability of all our players especially ox

Perhaps a better question for the OP would be: Would we be happier if we had signed Fabregas and Chelsea got Sanchez instead?

Fabregas was ousted by his own fans, this will have had an affect on him. Wenger effectively built an entire team around him previously, I do not see how he could have come back and fitted into the squad without having to eat a significant amount of humble pie. Is he the character to do that?

These are two key factors that will have been on Wengers mind amongst several others. It is not just about how good the player is, it is about much more than that.

I would have loved Cesc back at Arsenal however im buzzin with the Sanchez signing. I literally still cannot belive it. We were asking for a player like Grizemann to be signed but Wenger went and got the top top dog in Sanchez.

I probably wouldnt have been bothered about Cesc is he went to an Italian/German team. its just that he went to Chelsea and Jose that pees me off.

Forget Cesc, he left us, went to Spain, got facked over, and they shipped him off, i guess Barca are not in his 'dna'. We got Sanchez, who i am over the moon with. If i had a choice, i would have chosen Sanchez anyway because he is a new entity so im intrigued to see what he can do more than sticking to what we know.

I just can't imagine Cesc playing against us in a Chelsea shirt.

I'm very happy with the Sanchez signing but in an ideal world we would have taken both.

Given that we have priorities at DM, CB, RB, and Goalie, it made sense not to sign Cesc. Wenger went with his head and secure the player the team requires in Alexis.
Besides, as someone earlier pointed out, Fabrages messed us up; yes he had to go back to his boyhood club at some time but the way the whole saga unravelled(feigning injury, refusing to train) left a bitter taste in the mouth at the time. It was a nightmare episode for Arsene at the time and I can't remember him so physically and emotionally drained in his 17 years at the club.
You don't go back to your vomit; unfortunately , that's what Cesc now represents.

Let's wait and see how Mr Sanchez settles in before making any judgements. To be fair, Fabregas is a proven top class Arsenal player and Sanchez is an untested newbie !

If he had any good character Wenger would have jumped into chance of signing Fiberglass but he is a broken player who will never reach the level he would have if he had been grateful and stayed...

Sanchez is everything Fiberglass is not mentally...
A top class player with much more to his game in position we have real need of quality.

Sanchez hasn't played yet. It can't be assumed that he is going to be better than Fabregas.

Here's hoping he is and that this move to Arsenal comes off for him and Arsenal in a big way !

The sycophancy that some fans show towards Fabregas is sickening. There are various stories about the manner of his departure. I'm aware that it was to his boyhood club, but he did not go about it the right way.

Fabregas is a top class player, but it's time to let him go. I don't see how we could have afforded him, if reports that more signings are to come turn out to be true. You don't spend your entire cash reserves. That's not how it works.

I said at the time that I could understand the decision on Cesc as long as Arsene had some good plans and we actually put them into practice. It looks like that is happening.

I loved Cesc I really did and wanted him back. But we needed Sanchez more than Cesc, so if it were a choice between the two, I would have gone for Sanchez.

hate to say it and we didn't have a crystal ball but in hindsight, wish we would have got Fabregas instead of Ozil.

If you are giving me the option of Sanchez OR Fabregas NOW then I take Sanchez because we need him much more - but if you are giving me the option of Fabregas or Ozil then I take Fabregas every time.

Ozil MIGHT get better, he is certainly a great talent, but I've sat in the North Bank and watched both and so far Ozil is not even close - Fabregas ran the show whilst at the Grove and was quite simply a genius...

If you think we need Cesc then why don't you want us to buy another similar player, it's just an emotional decision. He's declined as well and would unbalance the squad, I don't watch Barca but 3 years is a long time and his career went downhill a lot, why should we just take him back. Zelalem will be better than Cesc in 3 years as well

Anybody who thinks Fabregas has lost it needs to watch how he plays for Chelsea this season, Mourinho is not a fool - I think it is going to be unpleasant viewing for us Gunners

All the people calling for Cesc.....why have you not been demanding we go for other central mids since then? why did noone suggest we need people in cescs position before we found out about him being sold. We all called for striker dm right back etc so why let emotion rule your head, cesc is not part of the family he left us
