should have dropped Stringer and kept Youngy!
A petition is being put forward to Radio Leicester and I'm getting emails from fans to support his reinstatement.
So please have a look and write a few lines and email me and let's get the big man back!
On a personal note it shouldn't affect me too much as I won't miss many games - But I like Youngy's passion for Leicester City, so what if he gets a few things wring, he's not a brain surgeon so there's no real consequences when he does - He's like that old crappy jumper that we like, but everyone else thinks you should throw away and end up doing just that behind your back, then you no longer have it
Mind you I remember in one post match phone in he got a bit radgy with a fan who suggested he'd been on the buckfast - It would certainly have touched a nerve, I bet his RL bosses were anxious at his reaction. It wouldn't surprise me if there were concerned that others may try to bait him and what reaction they'd have received
According to Radio Leicester, his on-air ability isn't in question.
Which kind of implies that his off-air ability is.
So I guess for the time being, pick your conspiracy theory and go with that.
Read between the lines Dung
If the radio station have valid reasons then fine, but Youngy's vast army of listeners and supporters need to be told what they are, otherwise Radio Leicester are showing gross disrespect to the people who listen to their station.
Perhaps they are going to bring in Bill Anderson. Aargh!!!
Filbert why do radio Leicester have to explain anything to anyone? If it was a disciplinary issue or attitude.then i am sure Alan would not want us all to hear that.
Why do people feel that they are entitled to know everything?
Something has clearly happened "off the pitch" if you like which is a shame because I thought he was excellent at his job.
We don't know how lucky we've been with stringer and young over the last few years. Just listen to other local stations or previous RL commentators and you realise how good they are.
Shame, but something clearly must have happened. I hope it is a real reason and not just office politics though.
There are others at radio Leicester that I would like to get rid of. Wadsworth & his wife and Rupal Rajani
Bring back Alan Young I would all ways tune into Alan but not the others.
IMO without the football radio leicester would have no listeners.

-------------------------------------
I agree Mersey, I have listened to both the Derby and Nottingham equivalents and they are drab, lifeless, passionless and colourless for both commentator and summariser.
It's clearly a big draw Nev, but that's a ridiculous comment.
I just don't know quite what to make of this situation, although I suspect that the reason Radio Leicester are posting vague comments is because they don't want to embarrass him. They're not stupid and they wouldn't make the change just to "freshen things up" or because we'd made the Premiership. Which means that it's either a disciplinary offence or that he's unwell in some way (Read, for instance, back on the booze). Either way, the whole thing's just a sad situation.
Trust me i know how important lcfc is to radio grandads audiance so its not ridiculous.
This has been coming for a while and it a sad situation but nothing & the x factor style campaign to get him back is ridiculous imo
If the comments on here are to be believed, Youngy has erred somehow rather than this being a performance related change.
If so clearly none of us know what the "crime" was - Other than a few posters the majority think this is a shame and would rather keep him, myself included. I did consider the re-emergence of his well publicised drink problem and that may explain the strength of the response he gave to the caller who accused him of imbibing Buckfast. If that's the case I wish him well in his battle (Obviously pure speculation without any basis, but that's what we do on here) either that or he's nailed the producers old lady
This blog from ultrafox sums it up much more articulately and without the spelling mistakes.

I did not know that Alan had never been to the training ground either.
I cant believe this topic has has the most comments on it since the end of the season.
Hmmmm, looks like the reason is less sinister than we all speculated - Young doesn't seem to know why and is happy for LM to go public.
The plot thickens...

Well, not for the first time I find myself on the opposite side of popular opinion.
Whatever the specific reason for Alan Young's dismissal is, I think they have fundamentally made the correct decision. I never warmed to him and thought his style was, at best, passionate but amateurish and at worst pretty poor. The purpose of a commentator is to be your eyes, whilst the summariser is your mind and is suppose to provide more insight than the average fan in the ground. His style was totally reliant on passion and shouting and he provide little tactical or analytic coverage. I rarely listened to his views and thought "wow, that is insightful, I wouldn't have looked at it like that".
His style of heavily criticising players he simply did not like grated heavily on me. If you had to rely on his view, you would have thought that Anthony Knockaert was the worst City player for the last two years. RL commentary was frequently broadcast on 5 Live Extra at the end of last season. Imagine if Young had made a comment like his infamous "we shouldn't sign players from Egypt because they only play on sand" comment on a national broadcast - the club would be humiliated. He is a loose cannon, that's his problem.
As City enter the Premier League, the coverage provided by RL will need to evolve. The commentary team will have greater access to technology and statistics and will, I hope, use them. RL will be competing for the same air space with the likes of Sky, BT and commercial radio stations. If it wants to survive, it will need to evolve. There are plenty of BBC hating, Murdoch brown-nosers who would love to see the Beeb die, starting with decimating local radio coverage. RL needs to adapt and be bigger and brighter, appealing to a young, tech savvy audience to allow it to flourish. Sadly I think Alan Young is too out of touch to provide this.
Yet again, the way City fans continue to idolise this man completely bemuses me. He was an OK player and a below par summariser. He created goals for Gary Lineker and worked hard, but was not a legend despite what many would like to claim. The way City fans have gone about trying to get him re-instated, with abuse on social media, is pretty pathetic. I have also seen lots of personal abuse aimed towards the editor Jane Hill has been nasty and tasteless. RL made a simple decision to replace a member of personnel - it should not be vilified for this.
And if RL buckles under the pressure, well frankly it deserves to die.
For once, I agree whole heartedley with Foxello
Got to say, Foxello, there's a lot in there that I agree with. Although I don't think Alan Young was as bad as you make out or that I would have seen him leave myself, the "Egyptian players playing on sand" comment came to my mind, as much as anything to suggest that we don't know whether that's a one-off comment or the tip of the iceberg - for instance, I've no issue with people or comedians who are non-PC, but if you're representing something (in this case a Radio station and to an extent an entire football club) then you need to be careful.
I liked him as a summariser, because I don't agree that the job should be all about cold, hard analysis. While he was reasonable at that but not great, I enjoyed the spirit he could put into the commentry and I thought he worked well with Ian Stringer - both of them had the ability to have you biting your nails and getting excited or emotional at the radio, which was half the fun. Moreover, he's so much better than many of the other summarisers we've had, and will probably have next season - which is precisely why he's lasted as long as he has.
It is ultimately Radio Leicester's decision though, and I find it hard to believe that it's one they've made lightly. If it is because of something that Alan Young's done wrong (and that he would be judged poorly for among Leicester fans) then I hope RL keep their nerve and stay quiet until all this blows over. If on the other hand he's been removed because his face doesn't fit and they just want a new lineup for their Premier League reporting, that's poor form. The sad fact is that we'll probably never know the full story unless RL or Stringer spills the beans and airs the dirty laundry, probably the detriment of everyone. So I think overall I'd rather accept the mystery and move on without wishing to think badly of either side.
With you completely on this Dung. Al was part of four great years and our promotion year. I think this will be yesterdays news pretty soon. My concern i don't want any legends milking it for there own purposes i would like maybe someone we have not though of rather than the usual suspects!
Stringer's talking about it right now on the Football Forum, interviewing his manager's manager. Brave lad. Or maybe foolhardy...
And that was awkward, to say the least. Worth a listen if you're interested in the situation though.
