Moyes was a massive reason for our slump last season.
You dont drop from champions to 7th ( with basically the same squad) - had fergie been in charge or even LVG, im pretty confident we would have had at least made top 4.

----------------------------------------

Dunc the season you won it you had no competition. The other clubs were dreadfyl. Even all my mates that are Utd fans said it was too easy.

Fergie left you with the weakest squad he ever had.

All your rivals strengthened and were more settled. You didn't buy any decent players to compete.

LVG is the right type of Manager for you. He will not take any craap from the likes of Rooney when he spits his dummy out. I do think it will take him 2 seasons to get you back where you belong.

I think the op is mainly having a go at some of our own fans, if I've read it correctly????

We do have plenty who err on the 'glass half empty' side. There are also those that are not happy if our signings don't end in 'inhio' or suchlike. They're completely ignorant of the fact that players are being brought in to suit how we want to play and to give is more options.

People are too hung up on a direct replacement for Suarez. Guess what guys, there isn't one. United didn't directly replace Ronaldo, but still had success. Spurs didn't directly replace Bale, but still.... Oh wait a minute
-----------------------------------------------------------
Tbh I'm sick of some of our fans going on about the players we've signed or are going after or being linked with as not being of the required quality or not good enough.

Probably the same people deriding the signing of Sturridge when we were after him!

This ^^^

I have spent the last few days arguing on twitter with some of our fans.

Some are even slating FSG for selling Suarez

I think its going to be a tough season, dont expect us to challenege for the title, hoepfully retain top 4, our squad has improved, if our defence sorts itself out we shouldnt miss suarezs goals hugely.

First task, destroy brondby

think your weakest area is CB myself dunc. How will Herrera fair when he is moved to the North West of England with none of his mates and family around him playing under massive scrutiny and pressure? How does he handle pressure? Do we know?

same for any foregin player we buy, and there are spanish players at utd so he will have/make friends

With most of the signings you need to ask yourself, does their addition significantly improve the squad? The answer is yes. We all know replacing Suarez is impossible, the club is working hard to do their best in that regard.

The only one I'm against is Bertrand, as I ask the question and honestly I would rather have the Cissokho of last season.

posted on 15/7/14

Best thing is T Bone, it's Llori and Mamadou that are constantly telling us.

"They aren't good enough"

"Not of the quality we need"

You then ask them who they want us to go after and bring in and it's.

"Don't know, champions league quality"

So they don't want what we've got but won't suggest an alternative!

You then suggest a top player like Reus and they laugh at you and say no chance!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neo completely agree.

BR said he had a 5 year plan when he came in. To be challenging in his 2nd full season was a great achievement.

The players we are buying are fir the future bar Lambert.

Can is young and is highly regarded in Germany. Markovic is one of the brightest young talents in Europe.

Put it this way we have let -

Aspas, Alberto, Cissokho, Moses go

and replaced them with -

Can, Markovic & Lallana

Massive improvements

We have been instructed by the chaps on here who can read the future that we will struggle this season.

We had the same when Martinez took over, and most of the comments were from Liverpool fans.

We don't need to replace suarez..

If anyonenwho replaces him directly in the squad contributes to 20 goals that's a big start.

Then add in the fact that henderson sterling, Allen, coutinho, sturridge should all contribute a bit more as their development continues season to season. If those four can add 10 goals to their game we are fine, it wouldn't be unfair to expect 15 more!!

The defense can also help to negate the net loss of luis goals. Luis the little genius lost possession a lot! If we conceed 5-10 less in addition to the two points above we already have a net gain on the loss of luis.

Then finally, and the point a lot miss, is the difference that a strong squad will make. We won't be sending Aspas or moses on to shore up the attack, Borini alopecia a significant improvement on either. As is suso, markovich, lambert, lallana (and if those guys are starting it puts one of our starting 11 from this year on the bench) and we are still looking to pick up another striker!! We will actually have positive game changers to bring on. How many of our goals were scored off the bench last season? I'd be surprised if it broke double figures.

We always have doubters. We are not going to start signing world class players after one decent season.

I trust BR. Every club makes bad signings even Fergie made loads. You have to take risks with some players.

The people writing us off all the time are the ones who don't enjoy football. I love the game and i am optimistic every season. I am a supporter not deluded.

I have a winning mentality in life. I am not going to change that for my football team.

Nobody is writing anyone off just yet. Be crazy to do so.

All I'm currently thinking is the top 4 race will be even more competitive than last year.

And the people saying how will Utd make up the 7 wins on us are looking at things as if David Moyes was still our manager.

We're going to improve under Van Gaal. There's no two ways about it. I think I could have got Utd to finish 7th last season with the resources we had.

I'm certainly not writing Liverpool off for anything. Very much in the mix, as are Chelsea, City, Arsenal and United too for me. And as is reflected by the odds at the bookies.

I will be surprised if Liverpool finish 2nd again or higher. I think realistically City and Chelsea could be the top 2 next season but you just never know.

All this talk of replacing Suarez is impossible.

Suarez is in the top 3 players in the world. I watched that Rio in Rio programme last night. When he interviewed Henry he said that Suarez at this present time is better than Messi & Ronaldo. I agree with that on current form.

The only way to replace him is to buy Ronaldo or Messi. This is not going to happen.

So we take a risk like we did with Suarez. He was an established player but he was not world class. BR developed him.

Like when Keegan left, we got some Scottish guy called Kenny Dalglish. That turned out ok.

When Torres left, Suarez came in. That worked out alright.

Liverpool have never really bought "marquee" players have we? We make them great!

Stretford 85

This will be the most competitve season the premiership has seen.

On paper Chelsea should dominate the league but Jose is a cautious manager.

City have a great squad and i am sure they will add 1 or 2 more. Pelligrini has had a season to settle in now and the players know what is expected of them.

Arsenal have bought some decent players and the likes of Ozil are settled now.

Everton have Martinez who is a great tactician. Can they replace Lukaku? I am sure they will. (See Alas I am being nice )

Utd have LVG and a lot of money to spend. If he can attract the likes of Vidal you will be a force aagin

Spurs have a good manager now. No excuses for them this season.

They say our league is not that strong. I do not believe any other league has a top 6 to rival ours
