Ah, ok, so what you are saying is that if you had won the Fa Cup and finished 5th it would still have been the same successful season, as the league position is not relevant to success?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only thing good about the league is Winning it.
I've always argued Arsenal trying to spin 4th place as a success would be a farce.
The reasons CL places are of benefit is financial and a chance to win another trophy. Recently we have only been it to make numbers, like porto, the Italian and French teams. Hopefully now with a flood of cash we can build a team that can at least threaten to do something.
Cinci if you're trying to argue 2nd place in the league is something to celebrate than that too is a farce. You win nothing, your only hope is you finished a few pts behind the winners and next season will be better. But you can make that argument for Chelsea and hell even Arsenal.
we moved from highbury so we would be in a position to do the that. it's called foresight.
------
Is it balls!
You spend hundreds of millions ten years ago on a stadium, to spend 45m on a player?
Where was that foresight when you agreed a long term sponsorship deal with Emirates that undervalued Arsenal as the years went on?
The recent puma deal is also an example of poor foresight from Arsenal. Just agreed a five year deal with £30m a year
Liverpool had a £25m a year deal with Warrior agreed in 2011 when we were underperforming, Man U as we know just got a £70m a year one.
Foresight isn't your strong point.
Just seen cinciwolf is a Wolves fan. What business he has on commenting on our affairs is beyond me.
Not sure why he has this anti-Arsenal agenda either.
The whole Arsenal vs Liverpool fake rivalry here is getting really tedious and annoying. People get worked up over absolutely nothing and come on these forum to vent.
Oh i am sorry, Samir, i was unaware it was a closed shop on this forum and fans of other clubs(who incidently don't have an axe to grind so just tell it as they see it without the bullshít) were forbidden.
And yes, i would be truly devastated if we got taken over by a billionaire, the soul of the club would die in that instant.
And yes, you may be surprised to hear this, but fans who didn't jump on the glory hunting band wagon don't have any love for the premier league at all.
Losing more often than winning, spending millions on carp players just to get by, thats not fun for the average fan, but i guess thats why the big 5 have so mnay fans who just jumped on board to experience winning.
I think we can excuse Rodgers. The man has just lost the best player in the league. Look at what happened to Spurs after they sold Bale and Liverpool were for more centric on Suarez. Teams focused their entire energy on stopping Suarez and that gave so much space to others in the team, and Suarez still beat them. Its an all new ball game facing Liverpool and all the opposing managers know it.
Suarez wanted to leave for Arsenal last season. Sanchez and his agent know the reasons.
Sucks for you then redinthehead, John Henry said a few years ago he wants to model Liverpool on Arsenal

Ramsey chose Arsenal over United because of the draw of London.
Never saw United say that no they just accepted his footballing reasons and moved on. Doesn't have to be because Arsenal was better because we weren't.
Ramsey was just an example of another young player that wasn't ready for a move to the top, so he went to Arsenal to get some playing time
In the same instance Sanchez joined for footballing reasons, which may or may not include which club he saw was better, but better for his future.
But he definitely joined for footballing reasons.

Liverpool and United give away more than many clubs like Arsenal with their rights for shirt deals, follow @DarrenArsenal1 for more info on that.
Deals needed to be frontloaded to provide Emirates cash when we needed it, but this is where I stop disputing you, if we wanted to, we should have had a share issue to raise money to provide us with competitiveness in the early Emirates years.
Ramsey was 17 so of course he wasn't ready for the top. He came to us because he thought he would have a better chance to develop... looking at Fergus' recent record developing youngsters he wasn't wrong either.

Ramsey would have become another Fletcher or Anderson under Fergie as much as he genius he was. He would be another faceless wrestler at Man U.

This is true. Fergie even said so in his book that Ramsey wouldn't have been given the chance at utd but his excuse was that they had better midfielders at the time . We all know that's horse poo.
I think Fergie completely forgot what a CM was during the last few years, so he just threw random players he had available there

No, but i am sure if their midfield was as bad as you are suggesting, then they would not have won 4 titles in that time.....interestingly, it took you 24 years to win your last 4 league titles.......so i assume your midfield must be abysmal for the most part?
