He got something like 23 goals and 8 assists last season which is a respectable return when you look at it in isolation. When you put it into context however he missed some absolute sitters, he didn't score nearly enough important goals for us and he went missing when we needed him to step up. He isn't a big game player and he shouldn't be first choice for us. What Wenger sees in him to persist with him as our first choice is beyond me frankly but if he doesn't improve his chance conversion rate or score more important goals, when he has the likes of Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez, Walcott, Ramsey, Ox etc supplying him, then it would be incredibly naive of Wenger to not replace him after his third season at the club where he hasn't truly pushed on.
35 Goals in 95 Apps isn't that good of a return for a target man for a club like Arsenal who are competing for the League.

Let's be honest, Arsenal haven't seriously competed for the league in at least half a decade

Doesn't that make Girouds stats a bit better then, due to having a decent return for a non title challenging team?

I didn't say anything about Giroud, but I'll give you my take if you want.
He doesn't score against the big teams, he doesn't score winners when you need them most, and his chance conversion rate is incredibly poor.
I feel like everytime I see him play, he's going to the ground complaining about fouls he doesn't get. Which is embarrassing for a man of his stature. And he's usually good for 1-2 big misses per game as well. Did he even play against us last season? Because I really don't recall him threatening at all
Giroud is terrible, no better than adebarndoor. He should be a sub at best, not our only striker!

All true, but he isn't going anywhere and Wenger isn't buying another striker so all the AFC fans moaning, need to get over how chit he is and hope that he gets a lot better this season, with the right support.

...he won't get any better regardless...
Giroud is a striker that can't finish a chance, the sooner he is made a back-up player the better
We have no chance of top 3 if giroud is our 1st choice striker

4th is the target, hence giroud and sanogoals will be our attacking force.
Poor wum attempts.
Is there any other topic on this board nowadays. Its getting boring.
Any striker that would have been brought in was never going to shift Giroud, Wenger sees something in him that the majority of us don't. Hope Theo and Alexis are given a run up top at some point.

I like Giroud actually, just not as our main or only striker. Both Wenger and Deschamps have told Giroud that he lacks pace and he knows it, but he also contributes in other ways like defence when the team is under pressure, and with hold-up play. Sanchez and Walcott will bring pace into the team, and Giroud will still be useful, but maybe not in his preferred position.
No striker scored as many point-winning goals as Giroud in the Prem last season

He's not the worse striker we've had by a long stretch but at the same time we can do a lot better. The guy never shows up in the big games as pointed out and misses vital chances at big moments in games.
Any mention of the number of corners he clears when defending?
