Rafael you mean. I wanted Cleverley Herrera partnership. Not seen much of shaw so I hope to see if hes any good and saw some stats recently on sky comparing to evra that shaw crosses more and dribbles more successfully.

I think I know where we've been going wrong lads
I hope it's something like that, and not a 433 with Smalling at right back. We know how that plays out already, it's nice to see different things tried in pre-season.
I really think Cleverley can flourish under LVG.
Replace cleverly with ? And wellbeck with RVP and we have a good side there. Worried what happens if we pick up an injury at CB though.
I've been wanting united to play 3 at the back form2-3 years now. Awesome.
It will be interesting but would rather we didn't play 3 at the back

It's a friendly so it doesn't really matter. Worth a try. It might just suit us you never know.
The personnel needs to change though. That team (even with carrick and RVP available) doesn't look that great to me.
The line up doesn't look bad tbf. My main concern is that we just don't have any depth any more and injuries over the course of the season could prove catastrophic. And we tend to get a lot of injuries

No it isn't. It's on the west coast remember. Aren't they 8 hrs behind?
It's just a shame your weakest area is your defence, and you have selected 5 defenders
If we get used to this system then we can virtually play any system we want easily depending on what the game suits.

Look at the 07-08 champions league winning team, we also had 6 english lads all who didn't play in the wally with the brolly manager England 2-3 Croatia game.

Man utd got the winning formula again.
Our midfield is still our weakest area. Smalling, Evans and Jones are all decent players without being top class.
Some of our midfield isn't even decent
Wonder where Adnan fits in to that formation, sort of has to be where Mata is.
Januzaj will be the big loser if we play 3-5-2 on a regular basis.
But if we sign the right players, there's no need for us to play that way anyway. Improve the defence and buy a top class hardnut midfielder and then there's room for Adnan.
Come to think of it, I think the FA have an agenda against Man utd players. David Beckham steps down as captain then gets sacked from england squad 3 years younger then gerrard at the time and gets replaced from the squad. You have to be world player of the year man utd player to now probably be in the england squad, wellbeck gets in due to the england managers and hierarchy liking Danny the lad who will chase a football, jones because he is young.
Adnan could play wing back, he can track back and put in some meaty tackles, the only issue would be positioning as he is not used to that a sort of position. Also you don't have to play two strikers, you can have one striker and two number tens in behind, so he could play alongside Mata.
