You would have thought the trouncings last season would have had some effect on Wenger's transfer plans for this summer...

I think you over-estimate how much people care about your opinion.

I don't care what people think. I find it cathartic to express them however

Signing another forward player is not going to improve our defensive difficulties.

While we suffered a few heavy defeats last season our results on the road were fairly good, and this was largely due to our offensive approach.

Chelsea under Mourinho were the complete opposite and were overtly negative at times last season and as such suffered poor results against teams they were expected to roll over, thus costing them the league.

My point is that AW for all his faults employs a certain style of football and I see nothing that will change his ethos.

A holding/defensive midfielder is more of a priority IMO.

Sanchez is not a striker

Sanchez has (and can) play anywhere across the front line and will (when Theo is fit) play up top - a point also made by AW.

I absolutely agree with the above statement. All I wonder is for me we are going to find ourselves close but short in terms of squad quality. I know during this period we had many injuries but that is football and should be planned for. As the old adage goes "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." We have suffered from this for many seasons. Last season we bought Ozil and low and behold we won the FA cup. I am a typical Gooner in that sense that I have a low tolerance. If the results don't go the right way this season, there will be ugly scenes at the Emirates.

IMO if we can add one or two (especially a midfield ball winner) we will see a more prolonged league challenge this season.

We had by far the worst amount/length of injuries in the league last year and were top of the league (circa 75% of the season) until injuires caught up with us.

There isn’t a team in the league that could have endured with the injuries we sustained. Whether we would have actually won the league is arguable.

In the cold light of day, If Vermaelen goes, he will be replaced. Fabiański went and we are going to replace him. Sagna went and has been replaced. Bendtner has gone and there are no publicised plans to replace him... WTF (excuse my French). This is frustrating.

So we're back to hoping we lose now

Bendtner replacement is Sanogo, as soon as regained fitness last season, Bendtner did see a single min

I dont really think we need another striker, it would be nice to sign one, but with Campbell, Poldi, Sanchez, Theo, Akpom, & Giroud all as viable options up front, its not really a necessity.

A DM however is paramount if we are to sustain a real title challenge

Bendtner had next to no involvement in the first team last season, and made a handful of appearances. His contribution was negligible.

AW has stated that Joel Campbell will be given a chance, who IMO will be comfortable playing in the PL.

Whether Sanogo transpires to be an alternative remains to be see, however we will be going into the season with more forward options than we had last season.

I would be happy is the above statement is true. Has it been confirmed anywhere that I can read up on it?

No point being pessimistic, it'll make no difference.
If we are honest we have next to no chance of winning the title.
Our squad isnt good enough compared to the squads of City & Chelsea.

We'll need some incredible luck(especially with injuries) & tactical flexibility from Arsene (almost impossible) if we are to win it.

Personally I'll be happy with a better title challenge than last season, no more thrashings, doing better in the Champs lge and a domestic cup

I’m sure it probably is (online) as AW has publically stated JC will be afforded an opportunity this season. While nothing is ever set in stone I would imagine that if he does go out on loan again, AW would only sanction once an alternative has been acquired.

Very true, but then you say "Our squad isnt good enough compared to the squads of City & Chelsea." The point of my article is that we are in a transfer window and it is negligent not to "hunt for glory" and make astute acquisitions.

I understand where you're coming from, ideally we should sign another Striker, CB & DM.
Then we'll have a realistic shot at the title, but unfortunately Arsene as we all know is a stubborn man, and we'll be lucky to get a DM.

Hence why we wont win the title, but Arsene thinks we can, sometimes i think he might be going senile

Cheers for your thoughts We only say them because we care. Maybe a little too much.

IMO it is far too premature to confidently predict how we will fare next season but based on last season, and the players we have brought in, feel we will perform better than many on here believe.

I can't argue with that because none of us can predict the future. However, history can repeat its self if the cocktail of the elements remain the same.
