Hi Mick
unfortunately (and i hope it doesnt happen) your son will end up getting cut off for airing such views your good selves plan to mention as they dont come within the thoughts of those who present the radio show. its happened numerous times before with rovers fans but i hope this time you manage to succeed, unfortunately again i wont be listening as that programme is a waste of space IMO due to reasons stated above, lack of coverage only when we do well and seem to only care what they think is going off but good luck
azza,i know what you mean about biased rad sheff but my lad went on before the end of last season and predicted exactly what start we would get if sod was still in charge come the start of the season.i truely believe we must voice our opionions otherwise whats the point of forums such as this.dont get me wrong i dont want to see sean sacked i believe he should walk away and just say done my best, gone as far as i can and let someone else have a go.
Mickmoon - can't agree with you on this.
We're 4 games into the season with a lot of new players, several of whom are inexperienced at this level, and a crippling injury list, including our best striker.
We need to get behind SOD and the lads - not get on their backs - all this negativity won't do any good whatsoever.
Its early days yet and imo not fair to pass judgement on the coach or his new signings this season - admittedly performances havent been good in 2011 - but then we were struggling to field a team half the time - and the absence of Billy cannot be underestimated.
I'm 100% behind our coach and his philosophy - and to call for SOD to resign - is likely to make things worse rather than better imo.

Another striker with goalscoring pedigree is what we really need. (Le Fondre perhaps?)
Hi Azza
I find it strange that you and others always prophesize impending carnage for anyone who expesses views like Mick's.
Its a forum, we all argue our viewpoint. Its not carnage. Just different opinions.
For my part, I've been very clear on two previous threads. Now is not the time to change the manager. That time will not have come, in my opinion, even should we get relegated, although there is a lot of football to be played until we find that out.
My opinion's are justified in threads below. You can agree with my points, or not agree with them but nobody will stop me from expressing them.
So no more justifications in this thread. I'll jut say that now is not the time to call for the manager's head. Now is the time for us all to get behind the team.
I'm sure that you and Mick can agree with the getting behind the team bit. I just hope that the calling for the manager's head bit remains limited only to forum messageboards as anything else would definately be contra-productive.
When though are fans going to accept its not all these injuries thats costing us points? why did we throw away 3 points or a point away at brighton (this is just a recent example), when sharp went off injured we were still enjoying enough of the ball and creating, its down to his tactics which have cost us points, going goals up and then throwing it away, than we have gained from coming from behind. you just know when we concede first at the very best we'll get a point and thats probably only 70%-80% of the time! (i dont know that stat but i doubt im not far off) but as i said in another thread i wont say too much until after the bristol city home game of which i hoped we've picked up by then, just results i couldnt care less about the performances at this stage, we need wins to give us momentum and the players confidence
RTID
I am sorry Selby, Fuzzy, Donny Lass et al.
NOW is the time, if we leave it much longer the players we have, who we cannot afford to replace, will have NO confidence in their performance whatsoever.
Losing breeds losing, as winning breeds winning. Most sport is down to physical fitness, but winning and losing is in the mind. The more you lose, the harder it is to win.
Please don't go on about injuries either. We no longer have a reserve team, therefore we have a squad of players who should ALL be first team material, why else to we bring them in?
If we get to eoight or nine games with a couple of draws, we will be so far behind that it will be a real struggle to get back, especially as money will not be available for a new manager to wheel and deal.
I understand your loyalty to SoD, but even he has to admit that he has lost the plot. Who would I bring in, Dave Jones for one, maybe Billy Davies, there are managers out there who would jump at the opportunity.
fuzzy think your a little confused i was speaking in reference to the radio phone in which mick stated his son was going to go on NOT this forum which im sure is clear to any reader???? is it not?
NY why bring me into a discussion that I've not even posted in? I notice you did that yesterday when I certainly had no chance to respond as I was watching the team at Derby?
You frequently comment you want to create "debate" and "discussion"? Well I think its more like wanting to bait someone into responding. Remember when you said this to me?
"we signed Ballyballybally's little mate from Leeds. For Pete's sake take off those rose coloured glasses and smell the coffee for once."
Now that to me is not an attempt to orchestrate reasonable debate, its not respecting the views that are different to your own, its trying to provoke a response!
Finally Billy Davies/Dave Jones - they've been sacked for not meeting expectation with a huge budget - they'd really do a job at Rovers! My opinion of course!
My apologies Azza. Misread and misunderstood. On football heaven, I'll try to listen in. If Jamie is cut off for expressing his opinion on what should be done at Rovers, that's wrong. I don't think he should do it as I think anything other than getting behind the club at this time is contra-productive.
But freedom of speech comes above all that. I'll try and listen in tomorrow, who knows, I may even call in myself, I certainly feel strongly enough.
Bally, predictable. Same as me.
Donny Lass
Because on the other post you were and are in favour of SoD, or do I take it you are now thinking his time has come. Somehow I doubt that. I am not trying to goad anyone, just putting my point of view.
I accept that yesterday I was trying to gauge reaction with my post, but now, in the clear light of day, it is still afternoon over here, I am more than ever convinced we need a change.
I've given up listening to RS, I catch the odd interview normally on the hourly updates if I'm in the car and thats it. I am tempted to ring in though at times
But you don't usually get cut off for calling for SOD's head, its because you don';t support a Sheffield team
I can see both sides of arguments with what you have been saying fuzzy and others but football is now a results business these days and thats all i'll say, people will start to vote with their feet as we've discussed numerous times which then creates that big financial spider diagram again.
NY sorry I don't buy that, or shall we pull comments from every other thread just to gauge reaction? You try and provoke a reaction
And no, I don't think its time to get rid of SOD as I said Blades sacked Blackwell 3 games in and it didn't help their season. I also feel people are way off the beam with their suggestions of possible managers, why are they always looking at people who can only achieve success when they spend lots of money?
If I comment on a post in a thread feel free to respond but please don't try and drag me in if I haven't. It probably means I'm bored to death of the same discussion
what i cant understand fuzzy is why your so defensive of sod?surely even you must concede that at the rate were detereating we will be relegated by xmas.bally was dead right when he said the squad is a championship squad of seans doing so please dont insult our intelligence about injuries.one recognised striker,is an absolute travesty in this day and age of thirty men squads.lets hope the two lads from playschool can do us a job,but ill tell you what im not holding my breath
Mickmoon. Only one striker?
What about Hayter and Brown, are they defenders then?
First of allI never try to insult anyone's intelligence.
Sharp is a key player. Nobody can deny that. He and 2 other key players were out for at least 4 weeks (in the case of Billy and Ryan probably twice that). Do you not think that should have any effect on the fortunes on the pitch?
Add to that Stock, Woods, Coppinger (last game) and O'Connor and you have seven first team players out. Ok, it's a squad game, so let's add Chambers, Martis, Keegan and your at 10. Chris Brown has a dodgy back, Mark Wilson is not yet fully fit and Naylor is known to struggle when asked to play too many games. It really does get easier to list those who are fully fit. And yet some expect our performance levels to remain the same.
And the thing is, it's been like this since February. Now why is it insulting anyone's intelligence to think that that effects team performance?
On SOD and Rovers strategy, I cam explain why, but not now. I'm at a concert and want to listen rather than talk to you guys (no offence). Needless to say, I get what we are trying to do. SOD is key to it so get rid of him and we will have an aimless football team.
Enjoy the concert Fuzzy!!!!
first things first,a striker is someone who knows where the net is,as far as hayter is concerned his stats 1in 8 hardly prolific, then thers browny who i may i say has my full backing good target man doesnt get the credit he deserves, but alas he neither is a prolific goal scorer, so my friend just look at our for and againts since feb and tell me about our stikers.fuzzy as for our injuries id say apart from sharp i would only play four of our long termed injured players.WOODS,OCONNOR,MARTIS,CHAMBERS
Well same old 606,
I would really love to put up some facts for Fuzzy and Donny Lass but I like sitting in those padded leather seats in the east stand Lol....... So I'd better keep my mouth shut on certain matters.
On the previous debate, can I just say that I dont care for the way some people on here have spoke about our old manager, this man took us from the bottom of the conference on gates of 2k up to the 1st division on gates of 8k.
As for getting sacked after a few games, I think you'll find they came to an agreement. JR wanted SOD and Dave new he was not required at the end of the previous season, he just waited for the cheque.
As for SOD, he's a brilliant coach, but not a manager. He cannot change games through subs, or tac-tics, and most of all cannot finish teams off.
His biggest plus is JR has always backed him, after our 6-0 hammering at home last year, luckily JR was on holiday in Africa, by the time he got back he had calmed down so SOD was safe for a while.
How long has he got............ ?
Was a Zigger a long time before he came, be a Zigger a long time after him.
Once the crowds start to drop, so do the sands of time on SOD. Football is more about money now than it ever was, once the ground gets bought things MUST improve on the pitch as we will need to sell the club more than we are at the moment, IF SOD is still here that is.
Well put and thought out Zigger.
I hope nobody has thought that I have anything less than respect and gratitude for Dave Penney. He did exactly what Zigger said and it was a great achievement.
Concert was over. It was only 45 minutes. It's Musikfest in Winterthur. Lots of acts, many free. I just have to jump on a train for 10 minutes if there's anything I fancy seeing.
Sounds good Fuzzy, we've been taking the Thorne and District Rovers Association on the road today (well a few hundred yards to Thorne Park) Event for Help for Heroes, managed to raise over £300 (just our stall) so a very good day
I respect everyone's views on this forum but my own view on this hasn't changed since last time this topic was debated. We have a very talented management team and we need to keep them. We are a small club with a limited budget. The current management team built on the earlier work of Dave Penney and co and got us to the Championship. That was a great achievement. They kept us in the Championship for the next 3 seasons and we are now at the start of a 4th season. To my mind, the best people to steer us through this crisis is still the current management team. If we get relegated, then I will also back them as the best people to get us back into the Championship. I am not saying that SoD and RoK never make mistakes - of course they do - we all do - but for me, as long as they still have the desire, they are the best option for the short, medium and long term.
Do they need better off field support? Probably.
