Well said.

don't be silly we had 3 teenagers making their debuts! Wilshere was our best player last season and is the heart of the team. Song is a very important part of our team and with Rosicky, Djourou, Gervinho, Gibbs, Traore and Diaby all out it was a very depleted team.

we had diaby, gervinho, wilshere, song, koscielny, djourou, gibbs, traore, rosicky, squillachi and almunia all missing (eventhough the last two missing isnt always a bad thing). thats 11 bloody players!! yes we were depleted but you weren't much better than us, what with all your superstars. we were out of luck, simple as that

injuries is part of football!!!we weren't gonna lie on the floor and let you win. its you're fault you dont have a medical team equipped for fast recoveries. we didnt injure anyone. it wengers fault for not buying players for the team of for the squad

Gibbs, Song, Wilshere, Gervinho would have started if available. Their back ups (Traore, Diaby, Rosicky) were also out.
We lost Koscielny early on.
We had our RB having to fill in at LB.

So yes, we were seriously depleted.

But it is our own fault we haven't got significantly better options, so we cannot complain about it.

But done of those players would have affected the result if your honest!

As i said, LFC were even more depleted last season against u, i.e. a 18 and a 17 year old playing full back!

Squillaci, Song, Rosicky, Diaby, Gibbs etc are hardly great premier league players lol

posted on 21/8/11

yes they would have made a difference. Wilshere and Song would have made a massive difference in midfield where we were poor yesterday, even Rosicky would have given us better tempo and rhytm.

Wilshere is the only one who may have made a bit of a difference, Gervinho is not very good from i have seen of him in french football, so i wouldnt get carried away about him!

Your clutching at straws if u think the likes of Song, Rosicky, Gibbs, Diaby etc would have made any difference!

An offside, freak goal won the game for Liverpool. Our debutant DM was sent off for rashness.
If you really believe none of the players missing would have affected our performance then you are foolish.

posted on 21/8/11

they would have still been better options than throwing youngsters like Miquel and Jenkinson in the deep end

seriously OP whats your fucckin point? you beat a team that has been falling apart. we've lost our captain, our best players and are about to lose another one. we havent signed adequate replacements and everything at the club is going wrong. we had half our team out yesterday and had 3 debutants. we were also down to 10 men. so for beating us. now pissss off

rosicy was average in his prime! wouldnt have made a difference.
diaby cost you very important 3 points time and time again.
gibbs. would you have played him anyway.
song decent but not a gamechanger
squillaci...give me a break, son

Nobody can say what kind of difference could have been made if Arsenal had certainly players available. It could have worked out worse for them, it could have been better, nobody knows. What we do know is that Liverpool were comfortable and won the game with a 2-0 scoreline.

For me the game yesterday told a story. It told how Arsenal don't have a squad to compete anymore, like they have had in the past. It also told me that Liverpool now have a good squad, which they haven't had in the past. With Gerrard, Aurelio and Johnson out and with Suarez not fit enough to start, we were able to field not only a team strong enough to beat Arsenal but a good squad of eighteen players.

So for me the difference between the two clubs yesterday was squad strength and that is why I believe Liverpool will finish about Arsenal this season.

The fact is if we had lost yesterday we would have been slaughtered by all the Arsenal, Chavski and Man U wums.

As it is we won and there are still Wums trying to full us apart.

What it boils down to is that there are a lot of bad losers posting on this board. Arsenal should hold all the aces they are in the CL have money to spend and an experienced managers.

The fact their team is not all it should be is nothing to do with us. We can only beat the teams that are put in front of us.

Song would not have been sent off, Gibbs is our LB, Wilshere would have given us the attacking option through midfield....

Gervinho has been causing problems on the flanks...maybe his passing needs working on but would have caused more problems for Liverpool then Arshavin did.

Yes we where depleted...we had a 17 yr old in CD, a 9 yr old in RB and a RB at LB.

We had a 18 yr and 20 yr old in CM.....

If we had a full squad Ramsey, Arshavin, Jenkinson, Miguel and Frimpong would not have played.....unless on the sub bench.....

We where depleted but thats because we did not buy anyone to fill in the gaps our team needs......

besides that though I thought Jenkinson and Miguel played well and before his inexperience rashness Frimpong played well.....

Rosicky in his prime was far better than average (shame it was while he was in Germany)
Song not a gamechanger? But his replacement got sent off, so I think you can see the difference.
Gibbs would have played. You really think if we had an England international left back available we would play our right back at left back??

Plus the fact it would have been nice to have some experience on the bench to bring on at 0-0.

Some stupid comments on here.

wenger must have thought that team could beat us if he bought those players. he was saying stuff about frimpong that had me going he was the next pele or something.
im not gonna say it was a brilliant win becasue it wasnt, but football is about playing the game and if lots of players get injured, then you should have bought players to replace them.
if you named liverpools 1st and they all got injured, we would be able to field a decent experienced side. thats what you should do.

Really? Wenger called a DM the next Pele. Either Wenger has really gone mad or you are making things up.

diaby - average squad player
gervinho - unknown quantity as is new but not bad
wilshere - very decent prospect but not a game winner like fab yet
song - decent player
koscielny - very average centre back, was a good job miquel came on in truth
djourou - awful
gibbs - nowhere near clichy or enrique level
traore - nowhere near gibbs level lol
rosicky - good player when fit but is always injured
squillachi - awful player
almunia - is a reason arsenal keep trying out 4 keepers a year, they are all bad.

Only Wilshere and Song would be guaranteed starters and as the op pointed out they are hardly a patch on Gerrard who we were missing. We could also do your list of excuses with Glen Johnson, Aurelio, Aquilani, Skrtel, Gerrard out and Meireles and Suarez not starting, but we don't need to as we have a much healthier squad.

u liverpool fans obviously never watch us. gervinho, who has been fantastic pre-season, would have offered a lot more than either walcott or arshavin. jenkinson is a youngster with no PL experience. gibbs would have done a lot more attacking. song would not have gotten a red card the way frimpong did. and wilshere not in the same league as gerrard? judging by the past season, i would say wilshere is MUCH better than gerrard, who can only shoot now that his endless running days are over.
