I totally agree that we should not teach discrimination, but we should also stop the aspects of discrimination that many religions teach against women and homosexuals.

What we should do is educate, and keep religion out of political aspects. Religion is dying out anyway, especially with the further advances in knowledge and information. Education is key to preventing stupid beliefs effecting global issues.

Discrimination about women etc hasn't existed for about 70 years in religion or hasn't been practiced anyway. Religion certainly isn't dying out globally, just look at china and South Korea. But in this country it could well be

You're taking life too seriously if you really think so..

I'm sorry if you think that religion is affecting gay men in Christian African countries, or women's rights in Hindu and Muslim countries then you are blatantly ain't taking seriously how religion is affecting people in the world.

I don't buy it I'm afraid. Can you see these middle eastern countries becoming atheist? And as I said look at Asias growth.

This article has swerved way off track. Interesting though

It's not about turning people athiest like some kind of stalinist ideology. It's about education. Let's not forget that Christianity used to be a much more harsh, and disturbing religion, before it evolved into a much more lenient belief systems....they even kind of like homosexuals now

In many Asian countries belief in Buddhism and Taoism has been on the decline in the last decades. In many of the countries the sad fact of dictatorship has taken over, where a real person seems to become God (Kim Jong Un a prime example following in his father's footsteps.)

Atheists have been the same. It's not religion that's evolving it's society

posted on 29/7/14

Of course it's society and science that is evolving, which has sparked more Athiests, Agnostics and less religious...what's your point?

Loving the use of the word 'evolving' btw

Just addressing the "disturbing" description of old Christianity and although it's not untrue, it's not specifically Christians. Lol believe it of not I'm open to the idea of evolution although it has it's flaws.

84% of the world is religious and it's actually growing in places where there was oppression on religion (like China, Russia) and places where religion wasn't that common (like Japan and South Korea).

I think that it certainly is shifting continent somehow

There are now far more Christians in China that there are in UK and it's still growing. The good thing now is that religion is now more voluntary (well, Christianity) rather than almost being forced upon people like in the past..

Don't think most Christians have problem with evolution. It's just that it doesn't really explain how life started, which evolution doesn't explain.

Belief in utter nonsense without proof should be mocked, no matter which religion, from Zeus to Allah.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does it really matter if it's nonsense to some people? Ones people believe in something and take it seriously then it should never be mocked.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have to disagree there m8.

Anyone should have the right to believe in what they like. Freedom of thought.

Doesnt mean what they believe is above critisism or ridicule. Freedom of speech.

If something is nonsense and unproven it deserves to be mocked, no matter how many people believe in it.

==================================
How do you know it's nonsense though? Whose to say it's nonsense?
To the many believing (84% of world population) it's not really nonsense, so you can't really mock as you're not sure yourself. If there was certainty that it was nonsense then fair enough (but these things should still be respected).

Einstein and loads of scientists were mocked for their theories and science. A lot of them committed suicide (I did a research and an essay on it).

Exactly. There is plenty of evidence on both sides and it simply comes down to faith.

posted on 30/7/14

But the point is that it shouldn't be "us against you". People should not discriminate and mock because of personal views
