So how good are we?

It's early days yet.

Pearce has some talent in that squad. It seems he knows how to build a group of players that will play for each other as well as the shirt.

Personally I think this team is far better than either of the teams Davies built.

Therefore, you'd expect us to be challenging for promotion.

You look at his options and he has cover for every position.

I think our weakest link is at left back but Harding is putting in a shift and wants to make it his own.

We'll see. Hopefully by xmas we will be pushing for the top 2 places

We've got Cohen, Fox, and Harding at left back. I wouldn't say we're weak there - especially if Harding carries on improving. A top defensive midfielder and I think we'd be in a great position.

If anyone needs cheering up today, you may have heard Leicester are signing a french fullback called Rod Fanni. No really.....

We've just signed a DM from Germany and have Vaughan, Cohen and Mancienne who can play there.

We are definitely getting there and a few more matches playing together; all things being equal, we will be very good. There does appear to be a feel-good atmosphere around the place. Not wanting to get a full-house on cliché bingo, but the team is playing for the manager and the badge; pulling in the same direction, etc.
I’m not comparing the atmosphere this season with that of last season, as that would be pointless. We had Billy Dav...supported by…cking defended eve…idiots at…Price didn’t ha…clueless twa… Anyway that’s been done to death.

Derby are going to walk the league this season; we all know this as their fans have been telling us all summer so it’s one automatic place up for grabs. Who knows? Tomorrow night will be an indicator as to whether we are in with a crack at it

Sorry, i know its off topic but its worth mentioning

Pity you didn't also sign Simon Cox BS

Ray, Cox and Fanni would have been a great combo, especially considering we already have Wood

I meant Harding does not fill me with a lot of confidence. I agree Cohen and Fox can play there but if a team is looking to expose us it would be left back. The rest of the team if fully fit looks hard to beat. My opinion, that's all.

Both Bolton goals came down the right on Saturday, though, all be it one from a free kick. Hunt is great at no bombing forward but mustn't forget his defensive repsonsibilies.

I like the fact that Pearce has added some pace to what is a good passing side. Reid for one will benefit from the space crated by Antonio, Burke and Patterson. Fryatt, Asombalonga and super sub Veldwijk should therefore benefit from some of Reid's sublime through balls.

Early days but second place behind Derby is eminently achievable.

Don't forget Derby have Thorne. Nailed on success

Strett see you are spouting your usual garbage. I've never said Derby would win the league. I did however have a wager with Doublered that Derby would finish above you red dogs this season... A big difference .... Just saying

A minority has and funny thing about a few of them, is that I have seen them have had a go at optimistic Forest fans

I wonder if Derby fans think their squad is better than ours. I notice they've gone a tad quiet on who we've been buying over the past week or so

C-Stander, show me where I have put anywhere in my post that you, YOU said Derby would win the league. I don’t normally read your posts due to the inanity of them, so I would have no idea whether you have posted as such. What your post does suggest, however is that this inevitability is waning after only two games.

What I can say with a large degree of certainty is that a lot of your flock have been stating that you are nailed on for promotion, ergo, by association so have you. You all appear to merge into this slinking blob of excrement that pervades reasoned debate; so excuse me if I confuse you for someone else

I think we've both got a very good chance of achieving promotion this season and it should make for a good year if that's the case.

I've got very little idea of who the players in your squad are so wouldn't like to comment but you do seem to have a lot of players available for each position and you all seem happy so I'm assuming it's not a bunch of crocks.

Gutted about Thorne but that's football sometimes, looking forward to him getting back and think Hughes/Eustace can do the DM job either way.

If one of us does badly though there's going to be a egg on some fans faces.

Strett, don't you realise that everything that is said on this board is specifically referring to Cstander?

Cohen, it is potentially a very good strike force and maybe the best since those that you mention. It certainly isn't as good as them yet and I doubt we'll ever come close to the PvH/Campbell or Collymore/Roy partnerships of the 90s.

I still think we're short in midfield. People keep saying we've got Vaughan, Lansbury, Cohen etc but who knows when these guys will play for us again. At the moment we're relying on Reid playing in the middle (which for me isn't his best position because he has too much work to do), Osbourne (who is still a raw talent) and Cohen (who is better at LB and is our best LB). Once Vaughan is back and playing regularly I'll be happy. Until then we need to see how good Tesche is.

Yes, Cohen and Mancienne can play there but both are better in other positions. Vaughan is great, but he's not the kind of player to just sit and cover and he's never fit. And yeah, hopefully this German guy is the answer. We'll see.

We're better than what we have faced so far,but then to be honest,I think the August fixture list has been a kind start for us.
September's and October's fixtures are a lot harder,so I guess we'll find out how good we are at the end of that.

At the moment with the team Stu has put together though,I'm positive we'll still be in the top 6 at the end of Oct.

That's basically how I feel SHH, although I do feel Vaughan can play the anchor role if needed. It just depends who he's got alongside him. If it's Lansbury and Reid all season then we'll probably win the league but history suggests it won't be.
