Bring back Greeny as player/coach; we need him in midfield.
We will be winning nowt with them 2 centre half's. Unless they have got a decent DM in front of them
The worrying thing is could we have had an easier start than Rotherham, Sheff Wed and Charlton?
Puts added pressure on the home games when you only get one point from two of the easier away games
I heard that nice bloke Tony Pulis was looking for work.
Then there's a chap called Billy and another chap called Neil out of work. If we had Neil we would have his fat lovechild in goal.
i'd sooner have Nigel back.
http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/Derby-County-rhythm-Steve-McClaren-sure/story-22784296-detail/story.html#ixzz3Av0dTEpM this is the same team from last season. Remind me how many new players Charlton had?
Three clean sheets had lulled some on here to thinking our defensive frailties from last season had disappeared. Three clearances off the line against Wednesday and Rotherham told a different story.
The main problem going forward at the moment is that our two leading scorers from last season aren't actually receiving the ball. We seem to be OK at passing the ball round the back but not where it matters. Only way I can see that happening is if Hughes can play further up field but I don;t think Steve has confidence in Mascerell and Eustace to play defensive midfield.
Good points Spart - Eustace? Is he injured, out of favour, out of form or is there a determination to establish anyone BUT Eustace in that position?
Hope is tomorrow's veneer over today's disappointment.
Trust this helps
I could say ...
Ah, today's the day then that 666 starts his McClaren out campaign. I wondered when it would happen. And about time too!
For the record, the facts show that we have gone nowhere under McClaren.
After 3 games last season we had 4 points and were 10th with a 0 GD, having scored and conceeded 3.
This season we have 4 points from 3 games and are, it seems, 14th but still with a 0 GD and again having scored and conceeded 3.
What we have done is massively increase our wage bill by giving our "star" players (ie. all of them) huge pay rises after they failed to acheive anything worthwhile last season, other than to bring heart ache to all of us.
Last season, McClaren inherited a very united squad from Nigel with a lot of talent in it. He added to the squad with some very good loans and, I have to admit, got them playing more relaxed football which upped our returns.
This season, the heat is on. We're one of the favourites to go up; wages have increased; we havent started off too well and, with a few more indifferent results, McClaren will start to feel the pressure.
On the other hand, I might as easily say ...
We've only played 3 games FFS. Shut the eff up and enjoy whatever this season brings. We've managed to hold on to our sought after players. We are only 1 win off top place. Our form will pick up soon and Forest won't be top forever.
We had the benefit of being able to out score teams last season. A bit if tinkering and the whole attacking dynamic is lost, couple that with no real competition for Martin and we find ourselves relying more on the defensive side
I know I keep giving him grief but 1 player upsetting the balance is Dawkins, I can now see why he has had so many clubs and was never really handed a long term deal anywhere. Nothing more than an impact sub in my opinion.
Let us not get carried away, it is our first loss and might be a blessing in disguise and kick start a change in approach from Steve because for me, we lose more in attack with Hughes at DM than we gain in defence.
The former is spot on Peeder
Very well thought out and informed.
Strett, your support is appreciated but the only bit of what I wrote that I know to be true is "Forest won't be top forever."
Agreed Peeder.
Wow, you're on fire
The rotund one is just wanting to be centre of attention again Peeder.
I agree with Tommo about diagonal Dawkins. Not a bad player, good close control but always does the same thing. He has to release the ball earlier to either Bryson or Hendrick rather than go on his fruitless runs.
Would start with Eustace in DM on saturday with Ward and Russell on the wings and Hughes in the middle.
What frustrates me about him Spart is as you say Diagonal, it's so predictable, I don't remember him running at a player down the wing skinning them and delivering a cross. He just narrows the play by cutting inside and tripping over somebody else.
It's a shambles is what it is, apparently.
Dawkins is inexplicably getting himself into some great positions without quite having the end product, Russell has missed a couple of chances he might have put away on another day and Jamie Ward has only scored twice so far, the same return as O'Hendrick, and Bryson hasn't done owt. We can't help but point the finger at the defensive midfielder role that had seen us concede, erm, none before last night as the reason for our malaise.
FFS.. what a whiney bunch of whining whiners. It seems whatever pretend 'illness' afflicted Big Chief MoaningTwat over the weekend was contagious and now many have it.. we've played three league matches; there shouldn't even BE a table yet and certainly not one worth marking our undercrackers over, front OR back.
Unbunch your panties, man the fck up and set your sights on this being competitive; it's why we love this league, it's why we moan about the Premier League procession, and now we're on the flipside of that competitive edge we can't cope with it?!!
If Dawkins was the player you all think he should be, do you think he'd be playing for us in the championship? He'll be subject to the vagaries of form, same as most at this level, and I'm not entirely convinced him being singled out as the reason for our not sweeping aside allcomers is conducive to him regaining any.
Keogh out though; he's a liability.
Could not understand the subbing of Hughes at half time. Although we started poorly after they took the lead we dominated the 1st half. Playing probably our best football of the season. A penalty just before half time should not really mean changing the team. Mascarell came on and did nothing apart from put their forward through on goal!! 2nd half was littered with sloppy play and mistakes. At the minute I don't see anything Mascarell brings that Hughes or Eustace cant do. Early days tho.

That's Keogh's job FFS.
I'm not blaming him for everything I am highlighting a problem that I have seen with him from day 1.
If you actually watch the games we've played this season you would have seen that 75% of attacks come through Dawkins and over half of them break down with Dawkins. I want him to be a winger, with his pace he would destroy full backs all day, just not sure he has it in him.
Cant rely on Keogh all the time strett..
Electricity back on in the Notts area I see
1400 Derby fans at Charlton last night.
That's good support for a mid-table team
We're midtable after only three matches: it took Forest 46 to achieve that last season
Always living in the past 666. Move on.
You believe Forest are going to be up at the top of the table in May then Strett? Teams sometimes get lucky. You were given a football lesson last night in the first half but survived. Sometimes these things happen, like your flukey win at Leicester last season. Those three points helped you keep away from the relegation zone though.
