Earl, ask him what type of games he's into as a few games are exclusively for certain consoles.

I've always preferred the Playstation personally, as I've never really had issues with it. While, my brothers X-Box has been on it's deathbed a few times.

I have always had Playstations and they have all lasted for ever. Never had one that has broken. My mate usually opts for the Xbox and his usually break. In terms of build quality, I'd go for Sony.

But yeh, probably have a look at the exclusive games for each console and let your son decide which ones he likes the look of most.

PS4, no contest

My 360 has lasted me nearly 10 years now, although I'm sure a PS4 should too.

I only play FIFA and COD (did play GTA too) so it doesn't really matter to me which I go for next, I like that I can connect my Sky through the Xbox though, so I'll probably give that a nod.

The only disadvantage to the PS4, is the rubbish controllers, especially when you're used to an Xbox, that's why I made the switch from PS2 to the 360 in the first place.

They have increased the size slightly, but they's still too small.

PS4 is better - Xbox doesn't run at more than 780p, PS4 does the full 1080

I think that the PS4 controllers are spot on. The best I have used on a console. I know that some people complain the the Sony pads are always too small, but I have never had a problem with them and I have very long fingers.

I guess it's preference.

I like the positioning of the joysticks as they are a more natural position for the thumb.

By all accounts the PS4 is hands down better for pure gaming, but if you want more for you £350 an Xbox is for you. I also prefer the choice of games on Xbox.

PS3 was free, but terrible at the same time.

Both charge now but they are similar in terms of quality.

Lucky you, i've just ordered my 4th PS4 due to its fan noise. Getting kinda fed up with it though as it ruins the gaming experience imo.

My ps3 fat was very quiet up until the last year of ownership when the fan had gone.

Why doesn't mention the fact that the best selling game (Titanfall) is Xbox only?

And that the Xbox can do far more than the PS outside of gaming?

Strange.

Anyhoo, a price drop is due in October, best wait until then.

What have you got is sat on/pushed against? If there isn't great ventilation around it, perhaps it is having to work overtime to keep cool?

If there is wider choice of games and exclusives on PS4, Titanfall, which I hear is great, is always likely to sell very well on the Xbox in comparison.
